Can you take a Rune Staff as an heirloom? Think we tried this before and the answer was no but want to double check.

Hello Eric,

I recall this as well and the answer was No.

If you take a Quarterstaff as a heirloom, will it still take 100 gold to make it an exceptional runestaff?

If it is an exceptional Quarterstaff, can you make it a good runestaff for 2 gold, then later spend the additional 18 gold to make it a fine runestaff, and again later spend an additional 80 gold to make it exceptional? (about 8 years from now :)

I would assume not. Arcanis doesn't appear to ever let you improve item quality (just replace the item with a better one if you acquire it).

Is an exceptional quality runestaff that much better than an exceptional quality Gladius?

An exceptional Gladius would only cost 15 gold, where an exceptional runestaff would cost 105 gold (5 gold for the exceptional quarterstaff and 100 gold to make it an exceptional runestaff.)
That makes the exceptional runestaff 7 times as expensive as the exceptional Gladius.
