It doesn't.

Read the restrictions on the Rune and you'll see that the Rune of Air cannot be applied to the flintlock.

I did read its restrictions. The benefits of an air rune are given to a flintlock by a talent, as I mentioned in my post. I was just asking to make sure I had properly interpreted the intent or if I was wrong what it should have been.

Hummm, I don't have the book with me, but is I sware I remember an aspect of the air rune was increased range or sum such.

Give me till morning, chances are I'll have to errata the feat not to give the air rune... But I remember the intent was extra range

Exceptional and Legendary increase the range (in addition to the returning property)

The sticking point is that under normal circumstances only a thrown weapon can have the rune, which a flintlock is not. So while the return benefit shouldn't be there the range boost should be. It may be simpler to just change the talent to give a range boost as an option in place of the air rune, that way there is no issue with someone arguing about returning bullets (Personally I'd let them and have them roll to see if they hit themselves too just to demonstrate how asinine the idea was).

I'd personally let someone throw their Flintlock as a melee weapon :) Then the bad guy grabs it and keeps it!

hell a minion grabs it and runs... knowing that when he sells it he will be able to settle down on a farm someplace and finally have that family he always wanted

Just saw that...

I think I'm going to errata the rune a little so when it's placed on a bow, crossbow, or flintlock it increases the range...

also I'll clarify that the returning property can only be placed on weapons with the thrown quality

Kill two birds with one spear sort of speak.

Question - previously it has been ruled that using the Weapon Trick "Throw the Blade" is treated as a weapon requiring ranks in Ranged (Thrown), as a weapon maneuver using this trick requires the attack to be made with Ranged (Thrown) for this weapon maneuver, not the Melee Skill for this weapon, because the weapon if treated as thrown weapon during this maneuver. Would the Air Rune work a gladius or broadsword during the use of this particular maneuver?

Jeremy,

No - this is a variation of the previous question.

As the rules state, the weapon has to have the "Thrown" tag on it.

Using the maneuver to throw something, does not make it a "Thrown Weapon" in this context.
