I'm no one official but i think the issues are pretty clear.
To answer your question about your companion I think its pretty clear your companion is its own unit and does not require you to spend actions to command. The text says:

The emphasis is mine. Its a separate creature. If you needed to spend reactions or bonus actions to make it do stuff then I feel confident the text would have said so. Enjoy your (eventually shockingly tough) tomcat.
I also think that your other question (about stacking) is a no. When you gain the tools of the trade feature you "gain additional fighting styles unique to this order." Since it specifically says its a fighting style you can't double up. Use you HC fighting style to pick something else.
