I've read the side bar about the language several times and looked for examples of it, but just can't quite wrap my head around what it should sound like. The closest I can relate to it is somewhere between the Tolkien style of elven and Japanese. So I look to you guys here to help put me on the right path to get a feel for it. If there are any examples of phrases or names, the only one I pulled from the ARPG was Irgar and i'm not even 100% he is Kio, that could be used to parse out how it should flow and sound like that would be very helpful.

I tend to use Celtic and Gaelic as a rough guide for Kio. It is an entirely made up language as far as I can tell, and PCI doesn't have a linguist on staff which means that there are no REAL phrases in canon.

Scott Charelton essentially started the ball rolling. I think Welsh/Gaelic was a real influence but not exclusively so. I also think there is a fair amount of Asian or maybe Polynesian (Undir) influences in the names. The names tend to be pretty cool but there is a lot of disagreement about how some words should be pronounced. That's been an ongoing problem.

But much of his design notes, as I understanding it, never quite became cannon.

I am excited for the new Kio book. I expect lot of goodness for sorting out the language in it. HINT HINT how about a pronunciation guide.

How much does it cost to get a linguist to block out a language. . . is that in the Kickstarter budget? :P

After many hours long phone conversations with Scott and a binder filled with unreleased documents on the Kio, Undir, Harn, Chauni, etc that I accumulated during my work as an Invisible King of Metra, I can honestly say there is no real world culture comparison to the Kio. Their mindset is quite 'alien' (and rightfully so since their 'Sky Ships' did crash on Onara). I do hope their naming structures gets simplified a tad, just for the sanity of GMs and players while still keeping with the flavor of the race.

From what I briefly have read on the draft of the soon to be released Kio sourcebook, I can say it is definitely worth the wait.
