I didn't realize the large B&W was the same....

my comments:

1) I think having the 3 main stances and their wagers would be useful
2) The areas for Initiative, Strain, and Avoidance are rather large. Is there a way to condense them or maybe just put a big circle and someone could put a d10 in the spot representing the number? I get that the numbers written could be used with coins, tokens, etc. but it's a lot of room to show 3 numbers that don't change a lot.
3) Perhaps in the "Dice Pools" you could have lines where people could write their own descriptions? So one player might have Unarmed Dice Pool, Casting Pool, etc.
4) The columsn of "Action Speed" and "Action Type" look like they correspond right and left, that could get confusing.
4b) Trivial might also have (with other action) or something to indicate how it's used

Those are immediate ones

John

Oh! The content is the same as on the large b&w version I posted earlier. Just prettier. :)

I thought about that, but I worry that you can easily overwhelm a new player with numbers. But I think adding a "remember your wager" line under Be AGGRESSIVE would be good for this.

I came very close to doing this originally, but went with the number slides instead. The reason they use so much space is I sized it for a half-inch glass bead.

That said, I think I'll make this change and see how it looks. I think it makes a lot of sense and I'll need the space.

Well, ideally these mats are laminated. So there's no reason you couldn't make notes with a visa-vie pen, or slap a post-it note full of combos on it. Again, I just worry about slapping lots of numbers and hard combos in front of the player. Besides, the GM is gonna call for a Melee+Strength roll anyway. Plus, I worry about tying the GM's hands with hard combo formulas. Yeah, I know they were prescribed in 1st edition but 2nd has moved away from that somewhat.

Good point. I'll adjust that.

Another good point. I'll work on that.

Thanks!

The latest update with John's suggestions.

EDIT: Strances? We don't need no stinking Strances! :P

THis is awesome and I plan to make a bunch of these laminated to take with me (We need one for Arcanis now so I might try my hand. Do you have a template?)

A few more suggestions

1) I'd make the "Dice Pool" extend all the way down the left and move "Moving" to the right under "Actions" and "Stances" and extend the "in a Fight" down to the bottom.
2) If you can get PCI's permission, I'd include the actual dice wagers/penalties to the mat for the 3 stances.

Great work!!

After tonight's game, I think I'm going to add a box for Hero Points. Everyone was familiar with the whole spend one, add +1d to your roll. But tonight one of the players took advantage of the spend one, use a Talent for 1 rd and that opened a lot of eyes.

I don't know that I need permission to do that. Besides, I think I would phrase things a bit differently anyway to keep with the theme of the mat. So rather than hard numbers, it would look more like this:

Aggressive
Add 1 die to your Attack roll
Lower your Avoidance score by 2

Something like that.

No, but its just an Adobe Illustrator file. I can send you that if you'd like.

Your method works too on the stances. I'd love the illustrator file to use as a reference, unless you plan to do an Arcanis one?

Alright. Another Tuesday, another draft:

Image

I'm pretty happy with this one. I shuffled some things around and monekyed with the font and sizes to get everything to play nicely together. At this point, I really can't think of another thing I need to put in this...except maybe some explanation of what True Faith, Damnation, Wagers, Virtues and Sins are all about. But do you really need that info right there on hand when you play? It's starting to feel a little text heavy as is.

So unless there is some glaring omission, I'm about ready to put this to bed.
