If that is the current direction (whether it is due to retcon or an IC shift in goals), it really sounds like my character and the Orthodoxy would have either parted ways a long time before the start of the campaign or would have never been a member in the first place. This would explain my OOC confusion. Good to know.

After GMing a bunch of Arcanis 5e mods this spring and early summer, I agree with Alicia's original point that secret society orders seem to be "missing" from several adventures in which they should be present. Moreover, my experience as GM is that a gentle nudge from orders can help players remember those things their PCs in societies should always be doing. I've written up some recommended secret society orders for various 5e mods that I plan to give to campaign staff soon.

Thank you all so much for this information! I do my best to try and pay attention to all the secret societies in the mods because I think it's an awesome part of the campaign. However, I do miss things. So thank you for bringing this stuff to light. As I get the time, I will review the mods and try to incorporate the suggestions.

When I run mods for my home-game group, I add in secret society orders that I think would be relevant but aren't in the official mod. There are no official rewards in the shared campaign for them, but I've noticed that having the orders encourages players to work towards their society's goals and get more involved.
