not sure if this is the right place for this question to be posted, so if it needs to go somewhere else let me know. anyway my buddy is one of the pledges for the hatchlings of ven val'sosi. he was questioning as to whether or not he is a true val'sosi thus having bloodline abilities and access to val'sosi heritage powers or is he just a black talon that effectively has a genetic mutation due to who is sire is, that allows him to be psionically active. the pledge level title is hatchling of ven, while the description justs says psionically gifted. is there a difference? we were discussing character concepts and this was one of more pressing questions.

Unknown at this time, but we know that the Ss'Sosi are at least (potentially) Psionic. Nothing else is known.

Hello,

The offspring of Ven val'Sosi did not inherit the Val Bloodline power, but do start with the Racial Talent Spontaneously Awakened.

I'll make an Update on the Kickstarter just to be clear.

my memory may be wrong but i thought that ven basically "gave up" that which made him val by rejecting the human gods when he was burned to a crisp and became the Pyros Morellia. or maybe i'm just misinterpreting that section from the old sseth book.
so basically in my mind the new hatchlings would be more a new genetic line in the black talon race then actual vals., that being said if they so desired to keep a humanesque tradition and keep a last name, they could do like the vassel familes do and have the name xxx sosi of the black talon as a sign of respect to ven...at least that is my opinion

thanks for the response henry, really appropriate it. is it safe to infer from your response then that they are not val, but a unique breed of black talon?

Hello, (Sorry I don't refer to you by name, but you haven't signed your posts),

You remember the story correctly - Ven embraced the Fire Dragon and had Human Gods "impure gifts" burned away. What did remain was the ability to wield the powers of the mind, but at a horrible price. The characters allowed to be play were the very few that were hatched without painful and debilitating deformities. Most eggs fail to hatch at all.

Henry you about made me choke here.

As you know a bunch of us still play with Mark Fischer, the player of Ven.

When those characters went live we did not buy them. Toni text'd a friend to tell her about the KS and that friend had the best idea, to buy them and play them as complete misfits; a stumpy leg, short tails, tiny t-rex arms, splotchy scales, etc. (multiple Flaws) then have them spend most of their time complaining about how their father had weak fertilizer, did not rotate their eggs properly, etc.

We'd sit down and ambush Mark of course. Unfortunately the characters sold very fast so we could not execute our plan. Would have been so priceless.

LOL - it certainly would have been!

I'm writing a bit of fiction right now to illustrate what is going on that I hope you and the others will enjoy.

Stay tuned!
