A few comments/questions based on a quick going over of chapter 6... Ashen Hides are mentioned but are not given a racial entry nor a region entry. They are not legal for the living campaign but are a playable Ssethric race (per CoH). Why were they not included? The new Templar casting rule is better than the one originally posted on the forums, it still makes Ss'ressen Templars *FAR* less effective than any other Templar. As such, Ss'ressen Templars should have been granted something additional that other Templars do not get - otherwise, they are simply an inferior choice compared to any other race for a Templar. Aura of the Fire Dragon should have a duration other than Instant (it is useless as Instant). I would guess Scene but being limited to 1/scene means it is effectively always on then once the Ss'ressen gets a speed 2 action. Thickened with Age needs an additional benefit. Your AR is the same as Dragon Hide + Ss'ressen Scale Armor but it requires an additional talent with a very high requirement (Vigor 9). The only benefit this Talent really grants as written is an additional bonus to Fortitude. |

They are based out of Canceri, which is not a playable region (regardless of race). As such, Ss'ressen Templars should have been granted something additional that other Templars do not get - otherwise, they are simply an inferior choice compared to any other race for a Templar. It has been stated before that not every character option is going to be equally powerful in Arcanis. If the Ssethrics do not have a well developed Templar tradition, then it is understandable that a Ssressen Templar would not have the same level of training, etc that other races receive. As a Ssressen, you do have access to a number of (quite cool) exclusive talents and paths which are not available to other races, so in my mind this is a non-issue. I'm going to leave this for someone official to comment on, aside from saying that there is a fine line between having something be under-powered vs. over-powered. Not requiring armour is a benefit unto itself, in my mind. |
