I find it very interesting that the dual divine cows worshiped by the people of Kolkara [Blessed Lands, p. 127] parallels the dual divine serpent known to the Ehtzara ["For the Lesser Gods", p. 22].

Sorry to bring this up again, but I have a question about qualifying for rat catcher as a male considering this:

Okay, this is going in the Campaign Guide (which is almost ready for release, honest!!!). I know it isn't what people want to hear, but it is the best ruling we can make based on the realities of the universe (note: Wording may change following final edit of the document, but content will remain the same).

o Male ss’ressen, male worshipers of Saluwe’, and female worshipers of Illiir may never gain Divine Spell Casting (ta), nor may they ever take the Divine Archetype with their respective deities. Any time that Divine Spell Casting (ta) would no longer be considered a Limited Talent (such as through the Templar Background), replace the words “Divine Spell Casting” with “Rudimentary Prayers”. These groups may only learn Cants of their deity through the use of Rudimentary Prayers (ta) and Learn Spell (ta).

o Male ss’ressen, male worshipers of Saluwe’, and female worshipers of Illiir may never take Initiate of the Gods (ba), Initiate Itinerant (pa), or Anointed Priest (pa) with their respective deities.

o Male ss’ressen may never take the Arcane Archetype at any time. Additionally, male ss’ressen may never take Arcane Spell Casting (Eldritch), Prestidigitation (Eldritch source), Rudimentary Spell Casting (ta) for Eldritch spells, or Learn Spell (ta) for Eldritch Spells.

How can a male worshipper of Saluwe (who only gets rudimentary prayers) acquire the unique spell "Rebuke" that is required to make the "Rebuke Vermin" talent useful? Does one get the unique spell of a spellcasting type when they take rudimentary prayers? (It doesn't say so) Unless it gives it, it doesn't appear to be possible to get because rudimentary prayers only gives access to a spell in one of the traditions, which excludes the unique spells. Additionally, learn spell also requires it be in a tradition, which the unique spells do not appear to be.

Or is "Rebuke Vermin" just a worthless talent for male Saluwean's and most rat catchers are actually female?

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the question, but I don't see the problem here. As a male Saluwean you would have to be a Holy Champion instead of an Anointed Priest, but you should have no problems qualifying for the path.

It does appear that Rebuke Vermin is going to be a wasted talent for a male Saluwean, but as it is written, Rebuke (of any kind) is a wasted spell for everyone. It is quite underpowered. You should still benefit from Learn Spell (Breath of the Dragon) at the second tier of the path.

That answers the question. To me, that talent lies at the heart of the path, so to say that it doesn't work for any male admits that the path isn't really designed for males to be a member of, despite the flavor text support for males being part of it.

I can work with that, but it seems complicated.
