Hello,

The Cradle of Empires sourcebook gives a detailed look at the most prolific religious sects in the First City. The Dark Triumverate was not listed because their influence is minimal at best.

OK, quick question about the "First City" its relationship to "the Harbor" (pg 61). So the Harbor serves as the Harbor for the First City on the Sea of Lanterns, right? No docks are listed as being related to the First City, at the base of the plateau. This seems strange, since it seems the fastest way to get to and from the Harbor, especially with cargo would be by boat, down the Tygana River (pg 49), when the floodplains aren't innundated (when they are one could sail anywhere from the base of the First City). The Tygana is described as fast flowing, but I assume that is before it enters the flat flood plain (pg 59), where it appears to be the best source of (non tidal) water to the plain. I also assume it is navitigable from Harbor to near the First City because of this.

Here is the problem. The description of the flood plain describes it as horribly dangerous, and says that no one stays out after night fall on it, and that those delivering good from Pecinium (I assume to the Harbor) hustle to make the trip before night fall. But then how do goods get from the Harbor approximately 150 miles across the incredibly dangerous flood plains to the First City? If they take the trail marked I assume a caravan can make the usual 15 miles/day, which means they are out on the flood plain for 10 days. If they ride a horse at the impressive 40 miles/day, it still takes 3-4 days. I assume the river might be a bit faster, but not one day, especially not going up stream, and that would require docks near the First City for the boats. How does travel between the Harbor and the First City work?

I checked a module that involved travel to the Harbor from the First City, wondering if there was a smaller harbor at the base of the platuea. The module explicitely said The Harbor was at the mouth of the Flood Plain, but claimed it would only take 2 hours hard riding to make it there, not 3-4 days. (I want those horses!) Is there an issue with the placement of the Harbor, or the size of the Flood Plains? When the Flood Plains flood every 7 years, The Harbor becomes an Island in the Sea until the flood recedes, right?

Hello,

The answer to the Harbor question is that the adventure was written before the final location of the Harbor was selected. As for the travel time, call it artistic license.

OK, that's understandable, for the question about the module, but what about the logistics about travel across the Flood Plain? Is the means of getting material to the Harbor from the First City usually a 10+ day caravan trip? Or are flat boats or the river used as well? Does "The Harbor" essentially exist as an Island during the 7 year flood? When that happens, do ships sail straight to the First City? Are there structures/plans for these occasional events?

I also have a few nits with the harbor as well. Personally I prefer the idea that the flood plain is only in the ball park of 6-10 miles long...something you can readily traverse in a day even with slow wagons (and if you are daring...perhaps hot footing it back in a round trip during the same day).

I think this is necessary for the First City to be a bastion of trade (if it was 10 days out of the way another town would spring up) ... and I also think it's necessary for food (I assume fish are a major source of diet /protein in the First City given the minimal agriculture that exists). You probably aren't eating fish that have taken 10 days to get to you (baring drying/smoking/salting...which again would require another serious town by waters edge)

Just my thoughts.

Hello,

Based on the maps and geography as its laid out, that's the way it is gentlemen. To have changed it to match my original vision would have been difficult and lead to more reversals and corrections.

Not pick away at the nit - I fully understand, but that's the way it is for now.

On the Blessed Lands Book map of the Blessed Lands there is a number 17 and a number 18 location, but there are no numbered locations in the text to match these. I assume these are Ravan'tindel and Saam Ur, in order, and the numbers are just missing from in front of their titles in the text on page 66, but I wanted to make sure.

Is this correct?

Yes, that is correct.

on page 80 of the book there is a section about the farming terraces associated with the First City. where are they? I see no sign of any terraces on the first city map and wonder how they access to the ground below or the city above.

Blessed Lands, p. 123, right column at the top says, " [...] when the green moon Aperio is full. As the emerald lunar light shines [...], a gateway to the Realm of Shadow [...]"

However, the green moon is named Viridis, and the dark moon is named Aperio. The two mentions of green and emerald initially seem to outweigh the one mention of Aperio, but then again the dark moon is more often associated with darkness and shadows.

Which moon is being referenced here?
