So does anyone have input on how to make blowguns effective? Yes yes I know my penchant for using the under appreciated weapons of arcanis has caught ahold of me again. But seriously any ideas? It seams to be a flavorful weapon for a rogue with Hawkeye.

::coughcoughPOISON!cough::

Sorry. :P Just clearing my throat.Though really if you can get the ::MUMBLEMUMBLEpoison!MUMBLE:: You really should just put it on your crossbow/flintlock/longbow instead. Road trip to Nishanpur anyone? Its not illegal to buy and sell there...

Oh I am shocked! How dare you suggest my assassin resort to poison! I'm so very disappointed you haven't shared your source.

Basic poison will only coat three individual ammunition bits at one hundred to a goal. Sorry but trading 100 gold and an action for 3d4 damage isn't a good deal. Now if I had extra attack that same 100 gold would produce 20d4 damage if every melee attack hits. The expense curve likely gets worse for the more potent poisons.

Supplementing damage with sneak attack and runes however seams like a no brainier.

The real advantage of a blowgun, such as it is, probably is that it's much more concealable than something like a crossbow.

"Hey what's that hollow tube?"
"Ohh...uh...I make musical instruments. It's going to be a flute or a recorder."

EXACTLY!

The blow gun and the sling are really the only two concealable missile weapons. I was thinking about putting a handle on a cork stopper and calling the blow gun a 'cane'. The sling can be hidden in the folds of a tunic or as a belt. But the sling is a hard thing to use and keep yourself hidden or otherwise behind cover. For the sacrifice of just one HP less weapon damage the Blow Gun gives the option to shoot around corners. This in turn makes it easier to attack with surprise. For the assassin archetype a hit from surprise is an auto-crit.
