If a shield was made of Fervidite, would it gain any special benefits? Or would it just be a more expensive shield, if it is even possible to make?

Looking at Forged in Magic (5E) neither Adamantine nor Fervidite have a shield entry. The mechanical benefits for those two materials do not make sense when applied to shields. Given the general description of special materials in general ("The materials described below may be applied to any item that is predominantly made from metal.") I would say you could make a shield out of either metal, but while fancy provides no mechanical benefit.

From my thoughts, the traits of fervidite is that it is harder than steel and holds an edge better, in much the same way iron or steel is superior in both ways to bronze or copper. To make a shield out of it would make it more durable if the system you are using tracks such things, but would not carry any additional benefit at this moment.

A shield isn't defined as a weapon in 5E. If there are rules for a shield bash I'd say sure, but you pay for it as a weapon. I would look for someone who's solid in the 5E rules though for an official ruling.

I brought up the topic of Fervidite items a while back. The only thing I can tell you regarding items made of Fervidite (and thank you to Statmonkey's reply) is that, like Adamatine, items are definitely harder to hit for sundering purposes (AC 23) Fervidite thread and it has the added benefit of having even more HP to go through to break them (regarding Weapons and Ammunition). They're granted +50 hp above what the item would normally have and that they're treated like Adamantine & Silver for the purposes of bypassing damage resistances and immunities, or triggering vulnerabilities (pg. 216 of the Arcanis 5e Campaign Setting book).

I do not recall this saying the same for Armors/Shield. Only except regarding Armor made of Fervidite weigh less than usual, removing and Str requirements and Stealth penalties to don them.

I would imagine the same would apply to Armors and Shields made of Fervidite (the AC and HP bonus).

EddieS has the gist of it I think. There are some mechanical advantages. But they are unlikely to come up in a Living style campaign. For most players, most of the time.

In the corner case that you are playing a Fighter (Myrmidon) then yes your fervidite shield would count as silvered and adamantine for the purposes of bypassing a creatures resistances when you take the bonus action to attack with it.
