In HP2-11 Night of a Thousand Screams.. If a player that receives the Selash cert happens to be a holy champion of the sacred spear, how will this interact with their animal companion feature? Is there any difference, mechanically, between the Selash and any other Mastiff? The Selash is described as having a large head and bone-crunching jaws in addition to good tracking abilities. If an HC of the sacred spear order uses this as his/her companion would the only difference be in appearance of the mastiff only? |

Did a quick check of the module, the 5E Arcanis Campaign Guide and Sorcerous Pacts. Didn't see anything. There appear to be no separate 5E stats to distinguish the Selash from a common Mastiff out of the MM. (I believe this might be different in ARP rule set). I would just use the mastiff stats unless/until someone official says otherwise. Caveat Emptor! As with so many things, we don't really know the how the selash relate to the elorii in terms of cultural importance. Are they just a breed of dog the Seremasi like? (Their version of a golden retriever?) Or does the dog mean something more? (Maybe only kelekene trackers are supposed to have them...) Would elorii be offended to see non-elorii with one? Does the answer change if its a "friendly" Undir? Or a divine servant of Saluwe? (aka the slayer of Marok...) I have no idea. Just be aware that its something that could come up someday. |
