Probably shouldn't hold your breath. An Imp Familiar, with shared senses would let you see through magical darkness. Not quite true sight but still pretty hefty for a first level/low level effect.

Though...LOL. You could move to Nishanpur and become a Gate Guard into the city. Probably have to become an NPC. How badly do you want that imp?

As stated familiars do not work like that in 5e. The base game has massively curtailed people gaining "pets" that function in combat.

Well, it wasn't a first level ability to get in 3.x either with the improved familiar feat. I wouldn't expect it to be a first level power, but I could see a higher level bloodline power, since it could function as the invisible demon that so many val'Mehan are known to be accompanied by...
