As a follow on to Cody's interesting Character Ideas thread I thought I would start a thread of interesting 5e PC character concepts. As the 5e campaign guide isn't out yet, just keep things to general ideas. Perhaps if Pedro knows what folks are thinking about he can include conversion rules for Arcanis concept ideas. Of course posting them here also gives Henry story fodder and time to veto things that aren't fitting. For starters just include a 5e class or class combo with a basic pc story concept. Try to think of things that work better in 5e than ARG or that would take extra work to convert. |

Example: Legion of the Mighty Oak Air Mobile Combat Engineer. Class Druid - Wizard Background Legionnaire Path Equivalent : Battle Mage of the Coryani Empire Concept makes use of combat badgers, weasels and other wild shape changes with a burrowing speed to up creation of field fortifications. At higher levels uses spells to create fortifications. Air mobility is achieved by wildshaping into size tiny animal and being carried aloft by a flying familiar. Potential complication, might wish to train the familiar not to eat its owner. Also relies on druids still being cannon.... |

The issue with your concept, using base D&D 5e classes as a base, is that Druids cannot wild shape into flying creatures until Level 8. While I cannot say one way or another if the Druid class in Arcanis will include the base Circle of the Moon, you'd pretty much have to take that angle or one of similar bent. 5e doesn't really include 'animal companions' for the Druid class as it used to, meaning you'd have to take a Beast Master Ranger archetype to get your animal buddies. |

But you could go straight druid and take the ritual magic feat to get wizard ritual (find familiar) and thus gain a familiar, then shift into something small enough to be carried by your familiar (a mouse or something). Right? That would get early "aerial reconnaissance." |

Toodeep is right. But the real issue is not what is possible as a druid. Rather it is if Druids will be making a reappearance in 5e Arcanis. |

Yes, I think wizards are essentially elder casters, sorcerers are eldritch, and clerics are priest. That leaves two caster types from the ARG - Shaman and Psionics to shoehorn into 5E. Shaman might be a fit for Druid, though considering the "deal with a spirit" nature of a shaman I think you could make an argument for shaman transitioning over to a warlock. I prefer druid, and I'm running my shaman more like a druid (in mindset), but I can definitely see the argument. The real question is whether there are any rules yet for psionics in 5E. If so, I haven't seen them, but then I really only have the players handbook. |

I saw warlocks as sharisans not as primal. Mostly due to the demon familiar s they can get. |

Yeah but the Pact of the Fiend is only one "path." The Archfey and the "Great Old Ones" sound more like an Arcanis shaman to me. I'm okay with the wizards being the Elder casters and Sorcerers being the Eldritch casters. Clerics as Priests makes sense. I guess the Holy Champions would be modified Paladins? All speculation here till we see something official. As for concepts I would envision a Coryani Centurion/Legionnaire thusly: Class--Fighter Fighting Style--Either Two Weapon fighting, Defense, or Protection (depends on whether or not the character is using a Scutum) Martial Archetype--Battle Master Holy Champion of Cadic/Twilight Warrior Class--Paladin Oath--Vengeance These two seemed kind of obvious to me. |

Curious, because when I look at sorcerers vs wizards, I see Sorcerers as the Eldar magic and wizards as the Edritch magic. I see this because Eldar is supposed to be a fluid and elegant art, where magic is worked with as much as it is worked on. This is more in keeping with the Sorcerer's ability at meta-magic. Whereas Eldritch magic is forced by rote, and much more damaging on the body. |

Okay I can see where you're coming from when you put it in that context. |
