I can live with it. Assumed this was the case already.

Argument #2... How many people have you heard talk about, "val'Broken"

Hey, I am feeling a little picked on here! :D
To be fair, the bulk of the "val'Broken" I have seen played (myself included) are nowhere near abusing their bloodlines the way they could.

One draft of my Primary would have met the definition at the time (testing the limits of the system; the loopholes have since been closed).

ie: Psionic ASC V, DSC V + a couple of Eldritch spells on top of Bloodline powers over five tiers of play (some stuff deferred to T2 for access).

Couldn't do anything BUT cast spells, and definately val'broken.

The big problem was literally, I couldn't do ANYTHING ELSE, which made for a pretty boring character concept.

Hmm suggestion.

What about changing the wording to
Quote:
Page: 213 to 229 (Errata)
All Bloodline Talents: In order to learn a Bloodline power, you must already know a bloodline power one tier lower or a number of bloodline powers equal the Tier of the new Bloodline Powers.

This way it's no longer possible to skip from Tier 2 straight to Tier 5, but you can still skip over Tier 3 or Tier 4, which both have a single power.
In my opinion the Tier 5 power represents the highest level of connection to your God and shouldn't be cherry picked, but I also hate having to go through powers that don't mix with my character idea.

What do you think?

Still for turning them into a defacto tiered talents, where you need at least one of a lower tier to qualify.

Hello,

I believe that you should have to work your way up and earn those higher bloodrank powers.

If the issue is that there aren't sufficient powers to choose from at Tier 3 or 4, I think we still have time to address that issue in the future.

I think it should stay as is, and as it was (in spirit) in the original D20 ruleset.

I had thought about that...

but after a lengthy discussion we decided to go with requiring 1 bloodline power of each tier as you go up..

I know some of the powers may not fit a character concept, but the way your bloodline develops is the way it develops...

mush like I will always be 5'2" even though my personality demands I be 6'1"

I think (not 100%) Pedro is saying he's going back to bloodline of previous tier (only) requirement. Provided at least one more power is added for T3 and T4 before anyone gets there, I can live with this. However, I still prefer the flexibility of the "sum of tiers of bloodlines" method for two reasons:

  1. It gives more flexibility (some people seem to regard this as a bad thing even though it is still far more restrictive than the current rules).
  2. It is consistent with the LMT errata. I think LMT and bloodlines should work the same to minimize different rules (if LMT goes back to previous tier as well, then we also need more martial techniques for at least some weapon types).

Instead of the wad of text...

Errata:
Add the [Tiered] notation to all Bloodline Talents. You must know at least one talent of each tier lower than listed in the Requirements.

That doesn't work. Tiered means the talent itself is tiered (and no val bloodline talents are).
