If this goes in as proposed, can we at least get a second bloodline talent for each family at T3 and T4 before anyone gets that far? As I've said, I don't mind more restriction - I just majorly dislike the complete lack of choice with the proposed errata.

that's nothing new, spanning back to the d20 days...

sometimes to get to the uber stuff, you have to take the "not so uber" stuff

I think this is a poor way to balance things. Requiring you take stuff you don't want, won't use and which doesn't fit with your character is heavy handed. It only results in all characters of a val bloodline being identical.

There was a reason no one liked Feat Taxes and the like in d20 :)

Dear Pickle,

As thick as his head is, it will take more than a bump from a tree trunk to concuss Decios.

I think I can no longer support this errata because you have referenced a Lady Gaga song. ;)

I have no issue with adding requirements to avoid cherry-picking. I just have major problems with "if you want this talent that fits your concept, you must take this specific one which doesn't". There should always be some level of choice on things like val bloodline. I still like my suggestion for a certain number of bloodline talents (rather than specific tier talent). If you like specific tiers then (IMNSHO) there needs to be more options at each tier (2 at a minimum which already exists for T1-2 but not T3-4).

I agree (I played plenty of d20 - just not Arcanis). Talent/feat taxes almost always suck. I find it very hard in Arcanis to fit in more talents than the two double talent advances (general two talents and archetype-specific two talents) - only rarely can I fit in one of the one talent options.

now some said by pete has me thinking that there should be no restriction as to what bloodlines you take
Quote:
your hero has little control over how their bloodline powers manifest
. now i may be taking this out of context, but if i have no control whats to say that my t1 or t4 abilities don't manifest, yes some ppls bloodline abilities manifest at all tiers yet others might not be so fortunate/unfortunate. i really think it should be a personal character story choice.

i agree with john in thinking that the requiring of one to take things that your character would not normally take/use is heavy handed and takes away that which makes all the characters different

I do not agree that things like god-given Bloodline powers should be something the player/character gets to decide on. These may not be optimal for a build/effectiveness but apparently, for world/story reasons they are fitting.

I like the notion that to advance your Bloodline powers each tier you need to build them up. I think this notion of 'tax' is an unfair assessment of the situation.

I support this rule/clarification.

I'm anti-tax.
As I see it the Val'Mordane bloodline is already full of things I'll never willingly take without better reasons waiting to happen.

where we are now

Quote:
Page: 213 to 229 (Errata)
All Bloodline Talents: In order to learn a Bloodline power, you must already know a bloodline power one tier lower or a number of bloodline powers whose total tiers equal the Tier of the new Bloodline Powers.
