The "special" section on +3 bonus should say mention using this spell as part of a maneuver (Arcane Strike) incurs the bonus to defense.

This applies to Thrall as well.

I don't think this is required. It's an obvious one that if you get hit with the spell, then the next time you are targeted by it (by any means) you get the defense bonus.

I guess the clarification should go under Arcane Strike rather than the spell.
Something along those lines.

While I like the bright line simplicity of that, I don't see how ones improved mental resistance keeps you from being stabbed with a sword. I should still be able to "stick" you and make you bleed. Should we strive for simplicity in this case or should we separate the physical attack from the mental assault?

It could also potentially say:
"If the spell used in an Arcane Strike provides a cumulative bonus to defense for each time the defender is targeted (such as the +3 from Enemy of my Enemy) then the spell component of the Arcane Strike only affects the target if it exceeds the targets avoidance by the same amount."

Or is that bit of added complexity more trouble than it is worth/
