Greetings,

The first weapon trick for the Great Trident is Mighty Throw, but it doesn't have the Thrown Quality nor is it listed as a Thrown weapon.

Should it have Thrown and if so, what's the range increment? Alternatively, what's the correct T1 Weapon Trick?

Thanks!

With a sweep of his hat,

Paul

Based on previous threads, I'm pretty sure Mighty Throw is the correct trick and the great trident does not have the thrown quality (and, as such, you can't use the Air Rune on it to get returning).

The air rune is a separate question and will naturally sort itself out based on the answer to the above. The note within Mighty Throw is

"increases your weapons range increment by 10' ". My question is: what's the range increment? The range on the Trick is 60' and I doubt the Trident can be thrown 60' without hitting a range bracket. It already has reach, so 10' doesn't make sense either.

Good question. Since it isn't thrown, it doesn't have a range increment. Unless/until there is an official ruling, I'll likely just go with 60' in games I run for simplicity (and there's already enough restrictions with mighty throw that I don't foresee any balance issues).

If it doesn't have a range and mighty throw adds 10', why would you get to 60'? To me, I'd take it as 0+10=10. And yes, I use a trident. :)

Toni, the Great Trident has reach 10'. It would seem odd that the base range increment is 0 and the first range increment is basically still melee range.

Because then I don't think anyone would ever throw the trident since it has reach anyway.

Reach =/= Range. Just because you can stab someone 10 feet away doesn't mean you can throw a weapon the size of a sledge hammer more than 10'.

If you can't, then Mighty Throw is pointless (at least on the Great Trident). Nobody in their right mind would throw their (presumably) main weapon 10' if they can just hit someone 10' away with it.
