I was looking over FiM2 last night at the air rune and the wording seemed a bit ambiguous. The wording is:

Weapon: This rune can only be inscribed on a thrown weapon.

It's safe to say that it covers the items in the Thrown Weapons, One Handed chart and weapons with the Thrown quality.

Can it be put on weapons such as the gladius that can be thrown because of a weapon trick? I would think the answer is yes, but not sure.

Not sure if this is an FAQ or errata as I expect it depends on what the answer is.

With a sweep of his hat,

Paul

It might need a full change to allow on any weapon. With the 2handed Throw maneuver from CoH, I could throw a T-Hammer.

I am really waiting for someone to make a milandisian/almerican Val'Tensen Psi-Warrior with electrical powers to do this....let's bring Thor to Arcanis!!!! (granted, making Mjolnir a T-hammer is a bit of an upgrade).

lol. You may have just convinced them NOT to do this. ;)

Again, I'm unclear as to what the goal is. For a Fine rune to make a weapon returning seems reasonable as long as it's clear that the weapon must actually be thrown, not dropped. Otherwise it opens up to recovering a weapon when disarmed, a caster dropping the weapon to cast a spell, etc.

I think you might be trying to stretch out the meaning of the wording that describes the Air Rune.

I don't have my book at hand, but I the intent was for it o be used on weapons that are categorized as thrown Weapons, ie. Thrown.Thrown Weapons, One Handed chart and weapons with the Thrown quality.

Obviously, any weapon can be thrown, so can a chair. I think you'll agree that putting an Air rune on a chair is ridiculous. The same applies to tricks - tricks are unique applications of a maneuver. While we tried to give the Arcanis combat system a bit of cinematic Heroic flair, this does not put the gladius into the Thrown Weapons, One Handed category.

So, daggers, hand axes (hatchets), etc. - OK

Trallian Hammer, gladius, two handed sword - see chair above.

Henry,

Thanks for the clarification. That's all I needed.

I'll add the next question on it then. How does it apply to a flintlock. We explicitly are given the option with Imbue Runed Flinlock, given by Trigger Mage. I've so far hazarded to guess it gains the range bonus, it is an exceptional rune, but not the ability to toss your flintlock like a boomerang.

Correct the air rune would not give your flintlock or the ammo "returning" ability :P
