you know this is just pandering to the expert casters, I don't like this

EDIT full text of the rule

Quote:
Q: Does the prestidigitation talent give access to Universal Advanced and Sustained spells, or
must they be learned through other means?
A: No, as stated in the talent you only gain access to Base Universal spells, you must take the Learn Spell talent to learn any of the Universal Advanced spells. The two exceptions to this are when you gain prestidigitation through your Archetype or if you take both Prestidigitation and Arcane/Divine Spell casting at the same step during character generation, in which case you ALSO learn all the Universal Advanced and Sustained spells.

Please define "Same Step" in character creation? For example, if you gain Prestidigitation at the Archetype stage (as your 'free' Skill talent for Expert) and you gain the Spell Casting at the Talent stage, are they considered the same 'stage'? If not, please state that by saying:

Quote:
. . .Prestidigitation and Arcane/Divine Spellcasting
at the same step during character generation (ie: at the Archetype stage, or the Talent Stage, but not spread over both). . .

Cody you totally lost me..

maybe re-word it so if the Archetype specifically grants you the talent, not if it's chosen.

the idea is that ONLY Arcane and Divine start with all the universal spells

Clarification of what I am saying: You state that, in the Errata document, that you can gain all Universal spells if you gain both Prestidigitation and XXX Spell Casting at the same step of Character Creation. I have met many (many!) people who say that if you (as an expert) gain Prestidigitation at the Archetype step (as one of your 'free' Skill Talents), and then XXX Spell Casting at the Talent Step, they count as the same step because you can differ talent selections to the Talent Step, or saying that all of Character Creation is but a single 'Rank', therefore it is all "One Step."

What I seek was a clarification that you have to get them both at the same Step of Character Creation (ie: Only when selecting non-Archetype Talents, and not a mix and match of different points of Character Creation) because even though I think I understand what the rule says and what its intention is, I have met many who argue that I am wrong.

@pedro, if that was your intent you can remove it because both arcane and Divine grant P-Dig at the same step

@Cody, well we can ask for a clarification to discount those arguments because they dont make a lot of sense

that's not the only thing though... experts who gain P-Dig even as a bonus skill talent should not get all the spells...

Suggested change:

Quote:
Q: Does the prestidigitation talent give access to Universal Advanced and Sustained spells, or must they be learned through other means?
A: No, as stated in the talent you only gain access to Base Universal spells, you must take the Learn Spell talent to learn any of the Universal Advanced spells. The exception to this is when you gain both Prestidigitation and Arcane/Divine Spell casting at the same step during character generation, in which case you ALSO learn all the Universal Advanced and Sustained spells. Arcane and Divine Archtypes are granted both of those spells during the Archtype step, Expert and Martial Archtypes may take both talents during step 9 of character creation. However, Experts that take Prestidigitation during step 9 must qualify for the talent normally.
