That is exactly what we're advocating, in fact.

Having a restriction when you 'qualify' for something is a very odd thing to specify. I don't recommend it precisely for the 'ease of adjudication' that we're striving for in other places

yeah in combat is a very different place than character creation

I would argue character generation is already complicated enough with checking things you've already taken (backgrounds, talents, paths, etc) that we don't need to introduce a requirement based upon what you "qualify" for but haven't taken.

and then making it a [Devout] talent, thus allowing access to it from Templar and similar paths that allow devout talent access "as if you posses DSC"

also getting us back on track

Again, I think you should include Rudementary Prayers with the other Spell Casting Talent, because there is (possibly) ways of getting it multiple times which means it is either 1) a wasted talent (asw written), or 2) a very powerful version of Learn Spell (if you can take it multiple times).

you can only take Rudementary Prayers once.. so you get it 5 times.. that's 4 wasted talents...

nowhere does it say it can be taken more then once

I dont think the ruling address the original poster's concern

Quote:
Should Rudimentary Prayers be Limited if the character already has access to take Divine Spell Casting? Currently a Templar with a 5 Charisma can cast no spells, but a 2 Charisma Sword Saint can take Rudimentary Prayers. Adding a note to the effect of:

I'm honestly okay with that. If you build a Charisma 5 Templar with the intention of taking spells, you've made a bad choice.
