Greetings all,
After 2 years away from Arcanis it looks like I might have a chance to play in the near future with some friends online. I was thinking of a new character concept but am not sure how to build it.
I am thinking of playing a Sarishan agent that tracks down and punishes those that A) break with the faith/church, B) break Sarishan Oaths or C) enemies of the Sarishan Church. Kind of like a spy/assassin I guess.

What is the build that fits? I don't have Codex of Heroes (and with the online store not up and running I don't know where to get it) so I may be missing a lot of options in there.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Tom

There are a couple interesting options for that type of concept. If you want to be more martial / expert than caster you could do something like Spy or Sword Saint. For a caster, several options like Sarishian Binder Path, Inquisitor of the mother Church or Psionic Inquisitor (requires Dual Faith with another god other than Sarish first).

Neat concept. Personally, I would do something like this:

Martial or Expert archetype
Templar background
T1 path: Assassin (pg. 276 player's guide)
T2 path: Manhunter (pg. 124 codex of heroes)
T3 path: Assassin

I would want to make sure I have ranks in Stealth, Tracking, and Streetwise.

As far as getting a copy of the Codex of Heroes, I would suggest going to the nearest gaming store and asking them to order in a copy.

EDIT: Drivethrurpg.com has the pdf on for half price at the moment, so that would be another good option.

There is no FLGS in my area. The only game store in town folded before Christmas and the nearest one is an hour away. The wife of that store's owner just died in early Jan and now he is talking about closing shop too. I think I saw Codex on Amazon. I cant get it on pdf since I dont have an e-reader unless i steal my 2 year old daughters, heh. I will see about getting Codex and looking thru it.

Thanks for the advice so far.

Why don't you just get the pdf and either view it on your computer, or take it to Staples/Kinkos etc and have them print it out for you? A lot of those companies can even do binding.

One point about the background: There really isn't any direct need for a person to go after Sarishan Oath breakers as the Curse of the Oathbreaker is a pretty scary thing on its own right.

I do agree with Akira, however. That seems the best likely progression for your character. The only think I might change is maybe go Inquisitor of the Mother Church as one of your options to REALLY hit home the official imprimatur of killing heretics.

Umm. because having Kinko's print a PDF is far more expensive than buying the dead tree version and doing that likely exceeds fair use.

I just checked Amazon and there are several copies of Codex of Hero's available there.

PDFs can be viewed on the computer (the format was created before the rise of ereaders and tablets).

I was looking into something similar, there is a Sarishan Dwarf clan (forget the name off the top of my head), from the book it seems like they prey on humans by making deals and coming back many years later to collect. Kind of like a Sarishan Oath repo man, assassin skills could come in handy while trying to get people to follow through on their contractual agreements.
