My character concept for my primary character has always been that he believes he is the first val born of human parents. Originally, that was the intended to be true, but since I have been told that is impossible, it is currently only what he believes. There are two easy possibilities that could explain this, an unfaithful mother, or a mother who was tricked by a val using alter appearance. Either one works, but since his mother never admitted to stepping-out on his father, any knowledge of his "true father" is now unknown (accept possibly to said true father).

My question is this. My character exhibits the powers of a Val'Borda. Is there a way to tell if he is a Val'Borda, or a Val'Holryn with Val'Borda powers?

Outwardly, there are family traits that the two Val families have that one familiar with both groups could likely identify. That said, they are both brown haired Caucasians as I recall, so it could go either way.

If you were to come across another Holryn or compared to a Borda, however, you should notice a family resemblance.

Oh! I thought the val'Holyrn's copied the phenotype of the family they copied. In the Codex Arcanis pg 13 it said

Quote:
val’Holryn
Typical Appearance: val’Holryn are very atypical. They
tend to take on features that compliment the bloodline
they inherited, i.e. those with an affinity for Nier have
red hair, those for Illiir tend to be blonde, etc.

I thought that pretty much meant that they generally blended with the bloodline they copied.

Good to know. I never caught it. The val area of text doesn't have descriptions of the various families. Where was that change?

So it should be pretty obvious which he belongs to. So I need to decide, since he should know. :)
