my original question still stands, what makes this an Arcanis character?

if you create something thats just a bunch of mechanics to emulate something else, are you playing the same game as everyone else or are you doing something else?

Why must there be a difference? All our characters are based on SOMETHING that we have seen, heard, or experienced. My fiancee modeled her secondary after a character from a novel, a friend created a Rotted Capes character based on Ash from Army of Darkness. I know many people who has based their characters off classical archetypes, TV characters, and even people from their own pasts. Why should a Disney character not be a valid choice of inspiration?

I love the character concept and agree with a lot of what you have but here are some of my useless thoughts.

1. She trained to be a noble and originally rejected her magic, I would expect that to be more reflected by the expert path than the arcane path, but that is largely flavor. Because of this I would expect her skills to range more to the social end of things, though of course deceit would be critical, considering how hard she had to work to hide her magic. Spellcasting should not be taken as a talent early because she specifically did not work to master her magic, only to deny it; but considering how crippling this would be to the effectiveness of her character, I wouldn't hold to that.

2. To reflect the noble upbringing I might go with some form of noble background rather than expat (diplomat or noble born). Expat doesn't really seem to add anything, since it would seem that she wouldn't really be accepted in Milandir either. The "on the run" feel is better gained through flaws (See below)

2. If you could get the concept to work with psionics, than undisciplined psion would be perfect. Undisciplined, untrained, wild, and the dubious reputation flaw, which fits her perfectly. Not sure you can really get the ice motif with psionics though.

3. Chilling presence is an OK flaw, as I can see how it reflects her ice powers and the scary feel of her not having great control over them, but considering how she has been very publicly outed and apparently lost her ruling status because of her powers, I would expect to see Heretic and/or Disgraced as flaws as well/instead.

4. You might want to provide some connection to how she got these powers, since it is clear that primal casters don't get them for "free" in this system. What is she connected too? I would allude to her father making a deal with trolls or something. Blame it on the parents. She can't help she was dedicated to a heretical cult at birth (or something of the like).

5. If you are ever going to play with her, will you be playing an Anna based character? "Bound by blood" would be a good connection.

In your write-up, how did you get a bloodrank of 3?

Spontaneously Awakened Psion would fit a 'uncontrolled magic' path too.

For those curious I corrected errors on the build sheet.

>>I don't see diplomat applying for someone that spent her childhood locked in her room. As for Noble Born, a lot of the skills suggest social interaction that just wasn't there in childhood. I looked a fostered noble, but who would foster her? So Exile seamed to fit for someone that escaped to the mountains. Oh and speaking of which this build concept is only about 75% tied to the Disney version of the story. The original fairy tail had a different plot where the queen was completely remove from society.

No sadly you can't Elemental Empower psionics.

Humm.... I tend to like both. But I don't know that I want three flaws I will think on this but you make a good point.

THAT'S PERFECT!!

5. If you are ever going to play with her, will you be playing an Anna based character? "Bound by blood" would be a good connection.

If someone -wants- to play a bubbly innocent and passionately optimistic 16 y.o. in the Blessed Lands that is a good plan. I can just see her talking the Spawn of Tizzet's down at last years BI.

In your write-up, how did you get a bloodrank of 3?

slight correction, you cant take elemental empowerment only from psionics. you can certainly apply it to psionics, if you get it somehow
