I understand that there is good reason to not have a LARP. However, I would point out that many of us have already invested a great deal of time and money into LARP costumes. So, I would ask that in absence of a LARP there be a "Costume Friendly" event. This could very easily be the BI. Maybe with some sort of parade of Heroes or something at the start.

I certainly recall folks sitting at BI tables in costumes, so don't see that being an issue. The comfort level for the wearer of the costume may be an issue depending.

The Legion of the Watchful Hunter should be back again this year to add some flavor to the gathering as well.

With a sweep of his hat,

Paul

Hello everyone,

I wanted to wait until I knew one way or the other as to whether we'd do a LARP at Origins this year before making an announcement. Unfortunately, for the reasons I'll explain below, there won't be a LARP at Origins this summer.

There are a couple of reasons for this:

1. Given the arc of the story, I really didn't see a way to put in a LARP that was meaningful to the story.

2. Of greater weight is that a company has licensed Witch Hunter to publish LARP rules and they are planning to run a LARP or two at Origins. I need to be at the LARP to see how the game runs, etc. because they would like to license Arcanis as well. This would make the rules more concrete and allow more diversity in what goes on in the LARP.

As these are scheduled on Friday night and I can't be in two places at the same time, something's got to give. Obviously, I have a vested interest in seeing how they run things for both the sake of Witch Hunter and the possible future impact on Arcanis.

So what will we have at Origins?

Three Hard Points (HP 6-8) and a Battle Interactive. I'm trying to see if there's a way to include a LARP element to the BI, but I'm not positive I can make that work and make sense.

FYI - HPs 1-4 have been released and HP 5 is premiering at ArcaniCon.

Come on, John! Everyone knows that you are playing a variant of a fur trapper, but instead of trapping muskrat, otter, etc. and wearing/selling the furs, you are a chicken thief that look something akin to the San Diego Chicken. No need for your obfuscation.

(And this, ladies and gentlemen, is what happens when I get too sleep deprived)
