Please pass this on through other means of communication.

With ArcaniCon now 2 weeks ago, I just wanted to let everyone know the format of the main event, and offer some bits of advice.

Starting at a festival, the Heroes will interact in a large freeform group with the judges as NPCs. You'll organize into mission tables based on what you want to investigate with others of similar interests, and work towards figuring out some of the many plots that are occurring in Savona during the festival. After completing missions, you'll all return to the festival, share what you've learned, and decide what you're going to do next.

There are a couple things to keep in mind to make this work:
1. Remember what your character would value, and work with people who share those values.
2. Communication is absolutely critical to accomplishing your goals. You as Heroes have the opportunity to make substantial changes to the city of Savona one way or another. It is possible to unravel all the plots, but not every character will want the same thing.
3. Having no vested interests can be a good thing, so long as you are open to being convinced by persuasive arguments by both PCs and NPCs about what ought to be done.

When all is said and done, you have a chance to make your mark on the World of Shattered Empires. What mark you make is up to you.

Dress, acquired. Wig, to be purchased.

Tony--> Will we have some intro/ additional information before the mod starts? Coming in because I tend to get lost in the crowd, not knowing what/where to go... I won't get a chance to play the prequels but Kermina should be able to know what happens as 1- she's from there and 2- unlike JP she is a great gossip.

Absolutely. I have an entire hour planned to set the scene, have the NPCs spread the rumours and gossip, and have everyone socialize and try to figure out who their allies are and who wants to accomplish the same things as they do, all against a backdrop of festival games and merriment.

The two soft points will give some additional background to the city, but they will not be required to enjoy the main event, nor do they necessarily follow one to the other except for the purposes of narrative (so if you miss one or both of the soft points, you can still play the main event, then go back and do the soft points with minimal spoilers).

In response to a question off the forums:

The main event takes place over a single day in game. Scenes are determined by the change between the social encounter scenes and the table encounter scenes, for spells with that duration.

For spells such as Personal Illusion or Alter Appearance, if you have them up please let one of the judges know so we can properly react to your character.

For Binding spells of indeterminate length, please let us know as well if you have them up coming in, or at any point during the interactive. Examples include any of the Summoning spells - if you use Summon Steed, no one but a Harvester and possibly a groom at a stables will probably give you much of a hard time about it. However, if you use Summon Lesser Infernals or Summon Sarish's Own openly in the middle of Savona... suffice it to say there might be some trouble.

Well Kermina will have an NPC spellcaster use "Alter Appearance" on her to look like a Milandisian woman! (aka a blue-eyed, tall, fat, bearded blonde)

You best not say that around Ursula. That hammer hurts. Plus while she's from Milandir she is neither fat nor bearded. Or blonde for that matter. :) She is tall though....

So, it sounds like this is at least 1/2 LARP. Is that true?
