And why should you have been prompted? There was nothing outwardly obvious that they were cursed. . . except, of course, that they were locked in a vault that not only required very specific keys to enter, but was also trapped, buried in the most secure part of a fortress which the inhabitants killed themselves by burying it to keep that which was within from leaving. . . ;)

because we as judges are not setting ourselves up to try to "screw" the players, we are there to set them up to screw themselves over ( two players at my table put on rings )

traditionally in D&D, cursed weapons and armor didn't "attach" them selves until they were used in battle. I personally don't agree with just sticking the first person that touches something with a curse, the actions REALLY don't match the consequence.

One table picked up 8 flaws total, although I don't know if they were all from cursed items.

I think it may actually have been 9 Flaws (one was successfully resisted) and halfish of them were not from cursed items... (I think we got 2 cursed items at the table.)

I believe my character is now Haunted by Visions or something... we'll see what kind of flaw that is.
I think I have a greater understanding of why Larissa went mad and a little more insight into the future than my character is comfortable with.

Lets just say that it is not pretty and something wicked this way comes.

Haunted by visions, Horribly Scarred, and (almost) Gambling addiction

on top of the items (bloodthirsty, required ritual, Sickly, Low Pain Threshold and scrawny? )

Couple things. did anyone besides me get the lyre? and i'm not to sure i would have picked it up and had i known it was clearly broken.
The boxed text description of the lyre did say that the strings were, "cut" (not broken.)

I feel bad for the elorii character who got stuck with Tyrfang though. She only had it in a box and was essentially carrying it out for the party/ES. She never wanted it or tried to wield it.
I think you may be misinformed. One of the players at my table got Tyrfang. She's not an Elorii. And she clearly said that she was taking it. (No special precautions taken.)

I think my table had a good time. I thought the event went over very well. And I'm curious to see what the big picture looks like once all of the little pieces are put together.

I agree with this as well, if there was a way to actually do it post-mortem as it were. Obviously someone "set" the weapon in the vault without a scabbard or sheath and they weren't cursed, so there was a way to handle it that shouldn't curse. The ring, once you put it on, it's done. A weapon though should be able to be 'picked up' without being 'wielded'. That's going to be up to Campaign Staff to decide.

@Scott, the cursed items weren't unique.

I am still very new to all of this. I took the cursed ring, in the box, and seriously considered putting it on even though we managed to remember the story behind it that immediately made me thing it was 80% likely it was cursed. Eventually I decided not to put it on... so I guess I'm lucky. My question is, if I had taken it as my "item" but not put it on, could the runes have been transferred off of them without the curse?

I had the option to take the Ansharan ring of might. If I had realized this was possible (since it seems like it should be) and if cursed items don't count toward your "one item" from the vault (as we were told); than I probably would have chosen the Ansharan ring with the plan to transfer the runes over from the cursed ring to the Ansharan ring of might (at some point in the future since I don't have the money now - unless the Vault paid very well)....

I'm pretty sure you can't transfer the runes from the rings/ cursed items
