I admit I don't know my Arcanis history, so I'm not sure if this is a factor or not. The Priest of Neir in the PbP game I am running cast Castigate on the Carls. Are they considered non-believers? I don't know if their beliefs might be considered the same as the contemporary Mother Church or Milandesian Church. If that is the case, I'm inclined to think the spell would not work, which may provide some interesting confusion for the PCs as the story develops. Thanks in advance! |

1) They would technically be a different sect, as the Mother Church (and its ethos) were not created until some years after the events of this scene. 2) The Milandesians in question came from an era where the Pantheon was worship in a piecemeal fashion, so a Nierite among Milandesians would almost certainly be considered another sect. 3) It is irrelevant because Castigate is in no way affected by what religion that person is, only if they are a priest of equal or greater tier than the caster. Since the Karls are not Divine, they are affected by it no matter what. |
