The first anyone seems to have heard about him was the little announcement that the new Imperator made in the Plaza of the Lady. Before this, as far as (most) of the people of the world knew, there were no such things as the val'Cessari, let alone this Merric guy. Hell, we still don't have proof that they exist, so for all we know Cal's off his rocker. |

OOC: There are legends, mentioned even less than the mythical Other from the Gods' War, of a minor val family called the val'Cessari. There is no real evidence that any such thing has ever existed, and bards enjoy fabricating fictional stories from the time of the Imperium to fill in gaps of history and amuse crowds.
