Hello there, Vincent Val'Sosi here. So, recently we where contacted by the Sanctorum. The wanted us to congress at a small ramshackled warehouse in the docks district in a city on the coast close to the coast most close to the Isle of tears.(I can't remember the name of the city)

We approached the warehouse cautiously and searched it over finding nothing wrong with the outside of the building. We went to the door and found that it was unlocked. So we opened the door and much to our amazement the interior was much different than the outside. The inside was bigger than the outside(heh) and really opulent. Tapestries hung from the walls. The walls were made of exotic woods and the floors were made of marble.

As we entered we were approached by a man(who's name escapes me at the moment). He was excepting us and was an agent of the Sactorum and was charged by the society to acquire some of the most well know and competent people known on Onara. Well, he found and acquired us. He had us follow him in to a large and exquisite meeting room. Where he explained why he had gathered us here.

He and the Sanctorum came into possession of a bit of know that would help them in their endeavors and shape the world as we know it. He explained to us that they had recently captured on of the major members of the what are known as the hands of the Emperor(Sorcerer King). He told us of an item known as the Oculus and that this "gentleman" knew the location of this item.

Then were started hearing chains dragging upon the ground from down the hallway. Slowly the chain sounds approached and then the door opened. In the doorway was a rather meager looking man, his hands and legs where manacled and the manacles where attached to a waist manacle with long chains.

He told us that his name was Illack Noral and that he was one of the two remaining members of his "hand" also know as the Twin Whisperers. He threatened us a bunch, as his kind would, and then got to the matter of fact. He gave information on how to find the Oculus. The leader of his "Hand" was still alive and new the location of the item. Though she was to be sacrificed in three days hence after a gathering at the former manse of all the hands of the emperor.(shudders slightly) We would be sailing to the Isle of Tears and arriving just prior to the party where be would be sacrificed. So, we had just the time of the party to find her and get the location of the Oculus. He gave us the layout of the house, the possible location of the leader(Soria), the party political power struggles, invitations to the party, and other information. He also informed us what the Oculus may be used for. It turns out one can scry to find missing things and that he knew how to use it. Then we found out what the Sanctorum would use this Item for. They want to use it find Nurion, the founder of the Sanctorum.(What, What, What!!)

So on the day of our departure. We found out what we would be sailing on to the Isle of Tears. It turned out to be one of the "black ships" of the Sorcerer King. The captain was named Finius Vanalt, who was also a master of disguise. We started sailing. The first day was rather uneventful on the black ship powered by infernals. Then on the second day, we were all on the deck helping the crew, and a fog bank rolled in around the ship. Sound seems to stop and then in an instant the crew disappeared. In the fog bank we all saw a figure floating out past the bow of the ship and slowly this large imposing figure floated and dropped down onto the deck.

It was a being known as Loshnek. He told us that our approach of assaulting the party was totally wrong. Looked at our invitations and destroyed them instantly. He gave us new ones and told us that we should go to the party ans part of the hand know as Hunters of the Black Night otherwise know by derogatory term of daemon hunters. He said we would be the peons of the party and the this hand is always invited to parties but never come because they are always put down. He also acquired something else for us to make our story more convincing. Just then he disappeared.

The fog disappeared and then our ship was rammed. What rammed us was a ship, yes a ship full of demon pirates. DEMON PIRATES!!! They shouted that they were boarding our ship and freeing their brethren only in more demony piratey terms. Well, we eventually vanquished and captured the demons thus helping with our story of being demon hunters.

We eventually arrived at the isle. It was raining, as I guess it always does, and streets had blue arcane fire erupting from between the cobble stones, lighting the way to the manse. We acquired a coach that seemed to be both powered and driven by golems. Then, we were off to the party.

The party was luxurious. The shrimp was great. Many advances were made and turned down. Then were almost thrown out. Then one of the bigger wigs was announced at the door. We took advantage of that moment and with the aid of a silence orb made it to the basement where our female inquiry was to be found. She was protected by a variety of beings the scariest of beings was an Ordainer and a being with burnished skin with spikes that looked like they had been driven into their body all over and having the ability to unravel reality, as they did it to an enemies neck with the helpful use of "enemy of my enemy".

The battle was fierce and I didn't think we would make it but we prevailed. Then we entered the room where our prize was being held. She appeared as a woman in manacles that covered her hands and a metallic gag covering her mouth. We approached her and took her gag off. She told us that there wasn't anyway to save her because she was marked and would be hunted till her end.

We asked her where the Oculus was and she agreed to tell us with one stipulation. The stipulation being that we take her daughter away from here to the know lands. Well, then asked if she had the plague and she would not answer us. We eventually agreed and then we were told that the Oculus was located in the room with her daughter and that that room was on the top floor of the manse. She told us also of a secret passage to get to that room.

We found our way up the room and there was her daughter. She was sweating, talking to herself, and hugging a small book. We searched the room for the Oculus and found nothing. we eventually asked the girl where the thing was and noticed every time we asked that she hugged her book closer. We grabbed to book and opened it to find that it contained a hole to a secret storage place somewhere that contained the Oculus. Then the girl seized and went into convulsions. Her form writhed and shifted. Arcane fire flared from her skin and then dissipated and spouted fangs and her mouth grew and eventually went back to her normal form. Then we found she had gone comatose. An alarm sounded and we heard foot steps start up the stairs. I grabbed the girl and slung her over shoulder, we grabbed the book, and as a group decide to vacate the premises through the window.

With one foot fall, we noticed that time had stopped and we couldn't move. in the corner of the room was a man in robes and he addressed us. He said his name was Gemmalus, Nurion's brother, and that without his blessing we would never leave this island. For his blessing he only wanted to know why we wanted to Oculus. We had to tell him. Then he gave us a new caveat, that as soon as we found out were Nurion was, we had to tell him. He then freed us and we went back to our boat with two packages that could potentially destroy the world.

We had to figure out what to do to with both packages. We took to the plagued girl to a deserted pirate cove in the known lands and we regretfully "took care" of that package.

The Oculus, we did turn into the Sanctorum. Hopefully someday we will what happened with that effort.

Will the party offer editing and their names(I thought I wrote people's names down but I guess it didn't).

So, OOC.

The Sanctorum wanted to locate Nurion (who has allegedly been out of contact for Centuries) and discovered it would be possible with the aid of an item called the Occulus. The Occulus was on Ymandragore and a window opened during a transfer of power from one finger to another.

We accepted the mission and were taken there on a captured Black Ship posing as "Demon Hunters" the lowest social status finger who hunt infernals to man the oars of their ship.

On board we learned Loshnek had set everything in motion when he came to pay us a visit. Since we would need infernals as cargo he guided a ship full of infernals to attack us ... giving us the chance to capture them and fill the hold.

We arrived, passed ourselves off, and started sneaking around. There was a big fight in the basement where we found a lot of scary new things to fight (like a Soldier of Oblivion...). And cut a deal with a prisoner to tell us where the Occulus was hidden in exchange for taking her daughter of the Isle. We agreed ... to learn the child has the "spell plague."

Gemmalus eventually dropped in to see what we were doing and warned that the Occulus granted access to the Court of the First Imperium (though he made it sound like people and not a physical place ... I found that somewhat confusing). None the less he agreed to let us depart with it in exchange for being told where his brother (Nurion) was.

We left. But one member of the party murdered the girl as soon as we reached shore rather than risk the spell plague on the rest of Onara.

I will post a full IC report under Tukufu's letters in the Cross Road Tavern this weekend.

Just a quick correction. Gemmelus said that it was connected to the Emperyan Court, not the First Imperium, though it was loud in the room and they do sound similar.

Just curious, have we encountered direct references to the Emperyan Court before? I don't recall it and would certainly love to know more.

What is the "spell plague"? I don't remember hearing of it before (though I haven't read much old 3.5 material and have only played/ran about half the mods).

@wilcoxcon, umm its a big deal in the 3.5 campaign its something that was intentionally introduced to the ymandrakes by the actions of heroes and the hawks of the sanctorum

I say hawks because iirc the hawks of the sanctorum and the shield sanctorum had very different opinions on the correct course of action.

Cody's next post has the information, its in year one of the 3rd ed campaign.

Edit, Thanks Cody!

Technically, introduced (though we weren't aware of it until after the fact) in the first adventure, "So Shall Ye Reap"
