I think I figured out how to explain this to my players, but I wanted to check.

Last session, one of my players asked why he'd ever take enhanced weapon. He understood why you'd do enhanced attack, but not weapon. I explained that it would give his weapon damage dice a bump and he could change the type of damage it does. He thought that was pretty cool, but then he asked why he couldn't just take Enhanced Weapon at level 1 and get that advantage.

So, I thought about it, and I think I finally figured out what the book is getting at.

1) First, having a high power score helps you versus power negation. I believe that is an instance when you'd want it high.

2) I would explain that if he were to use his gun (D8) and have Enhanced Weapon at level 1, his damage dice for that weapon would be always (D10). Not bad. But if he were to continue to build his Enhanced Weapon, he'd eventually be able to use the power's level instead of the weapon damage. So, at power level 12, he'd do D12 +D4 damage

So, in essence, you should either have Enhanced Weapon's power level super low or you should aim to push it high. Having it just linger around level 6 isn't really the best choice save for helping you against power negation.

Is that correct?
