I had a question based on when I reading one of the factions from Grand Tomes, but does a Witch Hunter lose his aura as a witch hunter if he goes bad? Or does he end up keeping it?

The answer should always be - Whatever works best for the story.

Probably not the answer you were looking for, but for me, the story takes precedence over anything. Tell a good and memorable story and any fudging caught by the players will be forgiven (hopefully).

To kind of echo what said, I'd say it depends. A witch hunter gone bad can mean a lot of things. Breaking the accord could mean you've gone bad, but wouldn't make you any less of a witch hunter. But a witch hunter who forsakes his order and embraces the Adversary (like the Inked Palm), quite possibly.

Of course, in my home game, I downplay the "supernatural" component to a witch hunter's aura. A witch hunter can usually tell another witch hunter the way killers and thieves seem to be able to identity one another. It's the way they carry themselves. The way the scan a room when they enter. That uneasy feeling you get when one looks deep into your soul, probing the depths for signs of taint and corruption. The way they handle themselves in a fight. It's an impulse, an intuition, the knowing that you are in the presence of a like minded individual. I won't dismiss a supernatural aspect to it, because there has to be something to that, but its more complicated than that. So in THAT respect, in my game, I'd say once a witch hunter, always a witch hunter.

The Order of the Inked Palm is what made me curious since it specifically made it a point to say they loose the aura. But while reading the Order of Judas I began wondering what would happen to that aura if say a Witch Hunter decided that it would be better to inspire more hunters and go rouge and join that group.

I wouldn't put it past the Inked Palm to purposefully remove or obfuscate their aura so as to escape notice. It could just as easily be part of that grand initiation ritual they perform. However, the Palm split ways so long ago, how many generations now can truly be called witch hunters?

That would make for a nice hermetic rite, though. Something that suppresses or camouflages your aura for X days.
