The first episode was by far the weakest, production wise. Shane West's hair piece still gives me nightmares. You can see the investment the network made as early as episode 2.

I feel like such a negative nancy about this show. Gripe, gripe, gripe. I'm still finishing up the first season (one to go) and it really isn't that bad. While every other genre show sits on a monster of the week foundation, Salem builds on the serial drama with supernatural elements. That alone is kind of refreshing. By comparison, it's actually playing out better than season 2 of Sleepy Hollow, something I wouldn't have thought possible a year ago.

But damn, when the rest of your weekly viewing is Walking Dead and Justified, it's hard not to gripe a little. ;)

Never got into Walking Dead (never been a fan of the whole zombie thing), Justified looks real good but never watched it. My big show this year has been Gotham. Absolutely love that show. Haven't been this hooked since the reimagined BattleStar Galactica and before that Babylon 5.

Before I get too far off topic, if you were to peg John Alden as a Witch Hunter what order would he be?

Dude, I can't say enough good things about Justified. It's just a top notch show.

Heard good things about Gotham, but I have too many shows already.

John Alden witch Hunter? Stalker. Easy.

Increase is more difficult. I'd actually consider the Aestetics for him, given his sense of atonement. But none of the orders are a perfect fit for him.

Yeah I figured Alden for Stalker he's got that 'tude down. He's a lot like my character Gunther Precht (German) from the old campaign. Gotham's good check it out if you can.

Ok, now that John Alden has gone full bore Witch Hunter, anyone care to try their hand at a stat block?

I'll leave his actual stats to others, but to me, he fits the Apostles of the New Dawn perfectly.

Interesting. I would have taken him for a Stalker. But I can definitely see him as an Apostle, what with him employing all the Native American talismans and weapons.

Exactly. During season 1 I would have pegged him as a Stalker as well, but his quick adoption of foreign talismans and undergoing rituals, falls under the Apostles of the New Dawn camp.

Now, obviously that doesn't mean that a Stalker (or any other WH of a different Order) couldn't or wouldn't undergo certain rituals to combat a threat, but Alden's previous adoption of Indian rites and method of warfare strikes me as more than just a once-in-a-life-time situation.
