A Rough draft:

Saggezza delle Strade
(wisdom of the streets)
Origin: Italy
Weapon of choice: throwing knife or dagger

Basic
When wielding a small weapon, such as a knife, against an opponent with a larger weapon, +1 Avoidance.

When using a pair of small weapons, gain +1d to Two Weapon Attacks.

Greater
Fierce Volley: 1d Wager, Quick Action, small weapon; when facing multiple opponents within throwing range, make a single attack roll and compare the results against the Avoidance of number of opponents up to knives possessed.

Vital Strike: small weapon; forgo your action one round, if your subsequent attack roll is successful, you add x2 weapon DM on your damage roll. You may take a defensive or total defensive stance during this round.

Heroic
Tenacious Fighter: at beginning of combat, receive a number of bonus dice equal to your Resolve skill. You may apply these dice to Attack or Reflex (Parry) rolls.

Anyone have a suggestion for an extra Basic style? Maybe double throwing range?

Looks like a good start. A couple comments:

Most fighting styles require you to use their weapons of choice, either exclusively or as one of your weapons if wielding two weapons. While the weapon of choice is dagger, all of the styles say "small weapons".

Fierce Volley: I'd make it a Complex action to be more in line with other abilities to make multiple weapon attacks in a single round.

Vital Strike: If Vital Strike totally precludes any action, then I can't see a time where an extra +2DM (or +4DM if Attack Specialist stacks) is worth it. If it costs a single Quick action in a preceding round, then it's more like aiming, and not so bad.

I'd make the last Basic style have something to do with ambushes, given the style is based on street wisdom. Possibly "when you roll Reflexes for initiative, if no enemy is aware of you, you gain an extra success. You must be wielding a dagger to gain this success."

HF,

Thanks for the feedback. I'm hoping to get the second draft up soon as I've made some big changes (particularly with fierce volley).

Weapon of choice is a dagger or throwing knife.

Vital strike: I like the idea of it costing a Quick Action. I'm not really a fan of requiring the PC to sit around and do nothing. That's why I added the stipulation that the player could still use the defensive stance while setting up the strike.

As of the current draft, vital strike and fierce volley are the two greater talents. One sets you up for a +6 DM attack with no penalty but at the cost of a turn. Fierce volley lets you throw up to 3 daggers at a single target (or 6 DM) on your action, but with a 1d wager per dagger (so 6 DM requires a 3d wager). That felt even to me, without one many ever being obviously superior to the other.

I like the idea of an init bump for the basic talent–maybe something that synergizes with Ambush Attack (Greater). Another I'm considering allows the PC to use the Steady shot, hamstring and ranged disarm tricks with a dagger. Or, maybe I'll incorporate that into the basics of the style since it locks you into using a small weapon (knife).

The conceal talent may break out into the general talent categories.

I may add a variant that let's you use hatchets or tomahawks. They have the same DM and throwing range as a dagger, and I think it would make for a cool "last of the Mohicans" style character.

Tom

Second Draft

Saggezza delle Strade
(Wisdom of the Streets)

Country of Origin:
Italy
Weapon of Choice: Dagger or throwing knife

Saggezza delle Strade is not a formal school of combat. It's earliest forms were practiced by criminal gangs in the late Roman Empire. Today, variants of the style are spread throughout the Mediterranean and Western Europe. It focuses on close quarters combat, strategic strikes, and surprise.

Special Feature: students of Saggezza delle Strade may use the following weapon tricks with a dagger: (basic) steady shot, (greater) hamstring, (heroic) ranged disarm.

BASIC
Close Fighting:
When wielding a dagger or knife against an opponent with a larger weapon, you gain +1 Avoidance.

Twin blades: When using a pair of small weapons, gain +1d to Two Weapon Attacks.

Quickest Cut: against an opponent with a larger weapon, +2d initiative bonus. Once per combat, after combat order has been established, you may make an opposed Reflexes (agility) roll to change your initiative to one ahead of your opponent.

GREATER
Vital Strike:
You sacrifice a Quick Attack action to draw your quarry in close. You may take a defensive stance this turn. On your next turn, if your attack roll is successful you add x2 weapon DM to your damage roll (for a +6 DM total).

Salvo of Blades: Complex action; with one throwing attack roll, you may throw up to three knives at one or more targets within close range. Each knife thrown requires a 1d wager. This wager cost is cumulative. Each dagger directed at the same target adds it's DM to the final damage roll (+6 DM max).

HEROIC
Tenacious Fighter:
at beginning of combat, receive a number of bonus dice equal to your Resolve skill. You may apply these dice to Attack or Reflex (Parry) rolls.
