The paddy wagon lumbered down the cobble stone street. “Tukufu! Tukufu, you old scholar where are you?” came the shout at 2:00 AM. From the vapors it was clear that Acturis has been drinking, while the stake on his eye suggests he was thrown out of the bar. “Shut your arse whoever you are and go home,” cries the wash lady from the gutter.”

“Don’t you know who I am?” The undir retorts. “I’ll throw you in the brig next time.” He continues pointing down to the iron bars of the portable jailhouse beside him. Acturis then climbs up to the top of the carriage and begins to sing as only a drunkard possibly can.

Oh my name is Acturis, I’m a sorrowful man,
‘cause in hunting the gnome I did fail.
Please forgive me my friend, and come drinking with me
A humbled man you don’t meet every day.

I’m a roving old man, a hunter by trade,
And many a bounty I’ve lost
Please forgive me my friend, and come drinking with me,
A humbled man you don’t meet every day
.
A carriage I have, and a mancatcher staff,
And many’s the crowns that I store.
Please forgive me my friend, and come drinking with me,
A humbled man you don’t meet every day.

I go out with my dog, and a crossbow to shoot,
all along the Azure Way.
Please forgive me my friend, and come drinking with me,
A humbled man you don’t meet every day.

Come I’ll fill up your glass, with brandy and wine,
Whatever the cost I will pay.
Please forgive me my friend, and come drinking with me,
A humbled man you don’t meet every day.

And it is often I’ve sat, with a bottle alone,
Near all men would wish for more.
Please forgive me my friend, and come drinking with me
A humbled man you don’t meet every day.

Oh my name is Acturis, I’m a sorrowful man,
‘cause in hunting the gnome I did fail.
Please forgive me my friend, and come drinking with me,
A humbled man you don’t meet every day

Arcturis feels a tug on his cloak. Looking down he sees a small hooded figure offering him a flask. "Good sir you might want this. It will help with the hangover in the morning." With that the figure jumps down from the paddy wagon and disappears into the darkness. Examining the flask Arcturis notes with some degree of trepidation the holy symbol of Anshar. "Don't worry good sir," comes a distant voice "it's not poison, just my mom's hangover remedy. She was a dwarf so you know it's good....but really you should stop singing before the Blue Cloaks show up. They're not happy people this time of night! See ya!"

OOC: Mike you are a cruel man. But alas, but unlike Bardus, Acturis does not have an issue with the Ansharan's.

IC: THANK YOU KIND SHADOW! MY ASSOCIATE PAM-MU HAS THE SAME RECIPE. GOOD STUFF!!!

The words reach the hooded figure. He stops and nods to himself. "Another satisfied customer" he thinks. "Mother would be so proud." The figure then resumes his shuffling gait and disappears into the early morning mists.

Tukufu eventually turns up.

"Arcturus you nut. You're singing in front of Kelb's curio shop...which is just as well since Belinay sleeps light...

"All is forgiven. Let's get out of here. I know a place is open all night."

As they near the all-night tavern a hooded and cloaked figure bars their path. It wags a finger at them and says in a disapproving voice, "Shame on you Tukufu, an Altherian should know better! The last thing this poor man needs is more alcohol. Let's take him to the Ansharan temple where we can sober him up and treat his addiction to this vile substance."

"Do I know you? My mother always warned me about strangers hidden in their cloaks. They say all sorts of things and claim to have your interests at heart. Then they guide you to an alley and mug you or worse."

"Arcturus? You want to go in or you want to head off to find Anshar with this cloaked guy?"

The hooded and cloaked figure chuckles. "Most people shun my kind, and fear what I am. I swear by all the Gods in the Pantheon that I mean neither you nor your drunken friend any harm." His voice shifts to a more menacing tone. "For if I deemed you a threat, we would not be having this pleasant conversation on the streets of the Blessed First City." He continues on in his original friendly tone. "Now if you would rather not take him to an Ansharan temple, I can understand that. They can be rather unpleasant and hide all manner of secrets. You can take him somewhere else, as long as he sobers up. This poor man cannot salve his guilty conscience with alcohol. That never works. So what say you good sir? Oh and I am remiss. I must congratulate you on the return of you mother-in-law. I understand that was quite the harrowing expedition."

Singing. "We've gota gnome, lets kick him in the morning, lets kick him in the evening, all over this land..."

The hooded and cloaked figures regards the singing drunken Undir for a moment, then cocks his head as if thinking. Turning to Tukufu he says, "There are some battles not worth fighting. Feel free to give your friend some more "hair of the dog" as they say." With that he turns and vanishes into the darkness.
