Since some of us will have val'Vasiks as soon as 1) Amazon processes everyone's credit cards, 2) Henry finds a free moment, and 3) Henry finishes writing up the val'Vasik, I was thinking I was going to block out my character until I noticed a bit of an issue: What is the naming scheme for val'Vasiks?

The only canon val'Vasik that I can find is named Torgannon val'Vasik, and near as I can track down Torgannon is not a name used among the nations of Earth. I remember there was a val'Vasik in an Origins LARP a couple years ago who had a vaguely Spanish name, but are there other known val'Vasiks out there that I can use as a base?

Lorjira? Lorjic? that the name of the guy from the LARP? I can totally see Jeff Huston with that damn &%$#% grin on his face while he gave everyone a double mouthful of hot air and double talk. Unless you were interested in purging taint from the world

Given the prevalence of Ancient Altherin I had the thought to go with classical Greek names (much like Platiro val Abebi). Am leaning toward Lysander val'Vasik unless a better name guide appears.

Funny, I am working on a short story whose main character is Lysander val'Tensen.

As for the classic val'Vasik names, I don't have a real world analogue in mind. I used a classical sounding name and mixed it up a little bit.

Really, unless you're naming your character Fred val'Vasik or Eggbert Betancourt Farquar val'Vasik III, you'll be fine. (Funny story - I actually went to third grade with a boy named Eggbert Betancourt Farquar III. Beyond the absurdity of the name, I was amazed that someone thought to name their kid (TWICE) with that appellation! Who knows, thee might be a IV running around by now.

Great minds think alike? 8-)

There are a finite number of famous classical names. Lysander the Spartan was a guy who thought outside the box during the Pelopenessian War and helped Sparta to its only major naval win over Athens. And in 12th Night Lysander is one of the poor mixed up lovers.

One of the things I feel a val'Vasik character needs to have is a reason why they haven't returned to Bastion and are out adventuring. I had the twin thoughts that my guy would simultaneously have never quite conformed perfectly and would be looking for the woman he thinks saved his life at the Battle of the Unyielding Gate.

Oh that won't be a problem, as going back to Bastion is not a viable option; or at the very least, a death sentence. :-)

Sounds like Bastion probably isn't doing too well without its gaurdian Valinor anymore....

Which raises a question. There are a ton of region specific backgrounds and paths; obviously there aren't any for these characters. Usually you can just say your character is from wherever fits their concept (want a knight? Your from Milandir!) But that won't work with these guys.

Will there be region specific bacground/paths for them? (Former Bastion legionaire? - I assume not, since that makes the scope of this deliverable pretty large) Or might there be an option for a Val'Vasik to count as a native of some other country (wherever they settle after "leaving" Bastion). So they could become a knight of Milandir or a centurion, etc. if they chose those regions for resettlement. Or, will they just have to be people without a home, and thus not have a chance to qualify for many backgrounds/paths?

As this wasn't (to my knowledge) covered in the PDF that Kickstarter backers received, do we know what a val'Vasik LOOKS like? Are they blonde like val'Assante's (also Illiirite)? Are they brunettes like val'Holryns? Are they massive like val'Dellenov's, or shorter like val'Bordas?
