| Post subject: | Common names from Nova Cormata |
I'm looking at a new val'Emman character and am trying to find names that correspond. The list of regions mapped to common names in the A: RPG doesn't mention Nova Cormata. So, what kinds of names should I be looking at for first names? Suggestions? With a sweep of his hat, Paul |

I think a mix of Roman, Slavic, and Finnish names are appropriate. Roman due to all the Nierites who migrated from elsewhere in the Empire when the province was refounded, Slavic from all the Cancerese migrants who came to the land, and Finnish for what val'Emman came to the area from Enpebyn after their family was refounded. This is why I chose Haakon (Actually Norwegian, but close enough) Marcus (Roman) val'Virdan for my character's name. |

I would pass on Finish and either go Roman or Slavic. Most traditional names should probably come from either the "marginal" citizens in the Coryani Empire or émigrés from Canceri. Though the val'Ishi often use Finish names according to the Codex i don't think their traditions would necessarily translate to thier allies. Obviously you can do what you like with your PCs name. |
