Guarded attack is another way to boost your avoidance, though it does make hitting a bit more difficult. Still, adding Passive Prowess to your Avoidance can be significant.

With a sweep of his hat,

As of the Codex of Heroes Dark-Kin can get AR 2 as well.
Or 3.
I can't remember.

Edit: with a Talent, not for free.

dark kin could get AR 2 in the main book; I'm not sure which talent gives them 3.

There isn't, then. I mixed up the CoH having more DK options with the primary book have the natural AR Talent.

Black Talon Ss'ressens with a background that grant armor should easily have at least AR of 5.

When you consider a light defense, I must ask a question. What is your offense in a fight?

My main has moderate avoidance, relying on his AR to nullify the blows. He has some mobility so he can swim through the fight to be face the primary threats. But if I wanted someone that was light on defense, he would be avoiding threatened squares. I would be working on ways to keep my distance with minimal risks while still being effective in the fight.

I think one important question that changes the result quite a bit is, are we talking light melee fighter, or light ranged fighter?
