OK. So I came up with a great combo for this under used weapon. Grab the mob with the staff. Then Heat Wave with the sustained adaptation to cook him on the spit. Combo is also handy for barbecuing your dinner when your out of wood. Heck. Why not make the mob your dinner? Umm.... Illiirites roasting on an open pit.... Yummy!

But I have one serious question. What is the DC for a mob attempting to break the grab? Codex of Hero's suggests it is the same as a grabble. But A:RPG sets the DC off of a passive Mi Unarmed. Seams to me that at minimum the skill should be based on Melee: Pole Arm. Also does starting a grab with the Mancatcher Staff give access to the Grabbling Maneuvers? Or is it only grab?

so when using Grasping strike with the mancatcher staff, the TN to break the grab is still based from Passive MI Unarmed, instead of Passive Mi Polearms.

can someone pin with a Mancatcher staff, is the wielder considered to be in the grab or just the target and the staff?

Physicswise, I'd say the Staff is grappling, not the person wielding it. After all, these things are like 10' long so it is hard to punish someone from that far away.

Correct

Definitely seems like it should be based on Melee (Pole Arms) rather than Melee (Unarmed).

Isn't being pinned and magically roasted alive punishment enough? :P
