where is the rule that says experts can ignore talent requirements when selecting their archtype talents? |

All Archetype talents ignore prereqs. Not sure where stated. Exceptions Limited, Racial and Tier. Not sure where stated. (This one might be unwritten). Edited to add limited |

so an expert could take : Campaigner (marshal archtype or military background) Church education (Almeric, Altherian, Caneri, Coryani, or Milandisian) Disciplined (requires resolve 6) Loyal Companion (Animal Affinity (ta), Beast Lore) Prestidigitation Any Lore skill (3 ranks) Encyclopedic Memory (Knowledge (any) (9 ranks),Eclectic Knowledge (ta)) That still seems powerful to me but.... ok I begin to see why there is a preponderance of experts in the campaign John, that is a good block of text to remember. I think Devin's statement builds on that. Thanks! |

Quote: When a Talent is taken, you must meet all stated requirements, except when the Talent is acquired through an Archetype, Background, or Path. with the exception of Limited, Racial and out of Tier Talents |

Well it's not just Experts, it's any Archetype phase. Martial Characters with a Might of 2 can take Sweeping Strike. John |

Pedro had clarified a few things you couldn't ignore are: Race Tier Limited Archetype (I believe it was stated you can't bypass Archetype requirements) I think you *can* bypass: Background Requirements (You haven't chosen one yet) Other Talent Requirements (You haven't chosen any yet) Skill Requirements (You haven't chosen but a few as of yet) Nation (I'm not sure this one was ever discussed on the last boards) So yes, you could take Campaigner (Due to the background), Prestidigitation (This is a popular choice and was specifically given the green light by PCI), as well as the others with skill or talent requirements you listed. SamhainIA wrote: That still seems powerful to me but.... ok I begin to see why there is a preponderance of experts in the campaign Thanks! I really doubt that's the reason. I know most Experts take "Adaptable" as one of their 2 Talents to be able to learn 2 skills they couldn't normally learn (Usually a Combat and/or Arcanum). That leaves 1 talent which you can bypass requirements for most builds. Encyclopedic Memory isn't going to do you much good at character generation since it only comes into play with 10 Ranks in a Knowledge Skill. John |

Experts are the "multi-class" specialist, where you want to do more than one thing well (usually a combination of spellcasting and combat skills). The other Archetypes can do one thing well but fall behind on their secondary role by 1 skill rank per tier (which does matter after a couple of tiers). |

actually encyclopedic memory is precisely the talent I want, and it starts giving benefit when your main knowledege skill is at 6 ranks , not 10 |
