deviknyte wrote: Why the decision to make spell casting so hard? I think it's to balance the power and flexibility of casting. It's not really 'hard'. The "must have a hand free" is pretty common in almost any game with spellcasting. Some games even make you have material components on hand. |

If you meet the prereqs then its only one talent to gain spell casting. That's not a high cost of opportunity. And you can do it in heavy armor unlike many systems...so again from a strictly power standpoint, why wouldn't you? Lack of a shield puts you at a disadvantage vis-a-via other combat specialists who don't have to dedicate a hand to cast spells. |
