So I was having a discussion the other day and I want to make sure I'm understanding things correctly. Do bonuses from weapon tricks and martial techniques stack because they count as separate sources or do they not stack because they count as the same source?

Overlap, as same source.

Weapon Tricks and Martial Techniques don't stack with each other because they are both the same source Maneuvers. BUT, it's really hard to be put into a situation where you are getting bonuses from separate maneuvers of your own. Only one I can think of is successfully using Unbalancing Maneuver then attacking with a different maneuver that grants you a damage die.

If you are talking about and advanced maneuver (such as Powerful Thrust + Mighty Swing), that is one maneuver now and doesn't have to worry about stacking.

I'm not sure what you are saying here. Yes you can combine stuff and it becomes one manuever. But it doesn't mean all the components stack. My understanding is that the bonus do not stack. You get the better value. If I'm wrong would love clarification.

Not a good example, but the errata for Smite Infidel (ta) and Smite Heretic (sp) die bumps.

Don't have my books today to troll through for a better (ta)+(ta) example.

It is one maneuver. No stacking issue. It deals both static damage bonuses. Stacking never comes into play, because there is only one source of damage the advanced maneuver Powerful Might Thrust (are whatever you want to name it).

The same as if you combined two damage spells into one Advanced Spell. It deals both halves of the damage (defenses pending) no stacking issue.

That errata was to nerf that specific combination, although I can't for the life of me figure out why, although effective, not broken.

Having recently been on the receiving end from an un-errata'd adventure, I understand why.

Taking 37 Stamina (*without* any die exploding) completely breaks the combat system.

Stacking Sources
Talent
Spell
Rune
Maneuver
Mundane Item
Magic Item
Ally (a spell from an ally counts as a spell bonus)

Types of Bonuses
Extra Die
Static Number (passive attribute from one of the stacking sources count as static numbers)
Die Bump (you may have multiple die bumps as long as they are on different dice in the roll. Such as a bump to your prowess and a bump to your might)
