I've always wondered why this weapon, which was very popular in the late Middle Ages, never shows up in most of the fantasy games I've played. It was a very versatile weapon having both a hammer head and an axe head, as well as a spear/spike on the end. It would be shorter and less unwieldy than a Tralian Hammer (probably a d8/d10 for damage) and would cover all damage types. Other than the proverbial "game balance" issue why is it you never see this weapon on the equipment lists. Lord knows we had a enough glaive/guisarme/voulge variants... :(

In the decade or so that I've frequented the PCI forums (in one form or another), this is the first time I remember someone asking about this. Probably not a lot of demand for such a weapon from the player base.

If you are interested in using such a weapon, I'd suggest making a rules proposal. You never know, it might get included in a later product.

I mentioned the poleaxe because in doing research on the era it seemed to be one of the more popular weapons, especially for dismounted knights. Very versatile, good at dealing with heavy armor, and far easier to use than a Tralian Hammer. I'll send a request to Pedro and see what he says. Thanks!

While not a 1:1 equivalent, the Halberd also fills much of this role as I recall. I do suggest, however, to submit the idea to PCI (through Henry, most likely) with mechanics to support it.

Funny you should mention it, I just sent a PM to Pedro about it. According to the Wikipedia article the Halberd was the preferred weapon to use against unarmored or lightly armored troops, while the pollaxe was better against knights and such. It would actually be the weapon the Milandisian Knights would use, since the larger Tralian Hammer would be used by infantry in same way the Lucerne Hammer or Bec de Corbin would be used. I've seen artwork depicting battles in the later Middle Ages/War of the Roses period and I see a fair number of pollaxes being used by men at arms. As much as I always like the Tralian Hammer I always wanted something a little less unwieldy and am willing to give up damage potential in the trade. Just my opinion on the subject. :)

Actually given what I've read about it I'd much rather use it in most situations rather than your standard sword. It's much more versatile. They do say it had a sophisticated fighting style (which could be reflected in weapon tricks and martial techniques).
