I'm not sure if this is normally possible but Grand Master certainly allows it...

What happens if you construct an advanced maneuver from one that does damage and one that does not (for instance, mighty swing and edge of the shield)? What is the resulting damage (none, weapon+5, or something else)?

I'm not an expert at advanced maneuvers but generally you get the best value. So Mighty Edge is weapon +5 & push 4. Potent.

Eric is correct and gets the gold star!

Thanks. That's what I thought but I wanted to make sure that a no-damage maneuver didn't over-ride or something.

It can depend upon the exact wordings involved with the separate manoeuvres. Luckily, most of the manoeuvres that might have a problem are already Advanced (Disarm etc).

Have to be careful saying it this way.

Rapid Strike is "Effect: Weapon -3". If you combine that with a "Effect: Weapon", you still get "Effect: Weapon -3" so it's the 'worst value'.

In fact, for anything other than potentially "Damage: None" you take the lowest damage value of the two (Unbalancing Strike, etc.)

Perhaps having it called "Effect" means that the Advanced Maneuver rules need to say something like "Effect: When combining 2 maneuvers that have a Weapon (modifier), take the worst modifier. An Effect of 'none' does not change the other maneuver's Weapon (modifier) number." or something along those lines.
