Hoping for a little clarification on how exactly this weapon trick works. The trick doesn't specifically state that it targets Avoidance. Is it:

#1 Attack vs. Avoidance and roll damage, if original attack roll bypasses passive Melee skill then they are disarmed

OR

#2 Attack vs. Avoidance and roll damage. If Attack roll hit, then roll again vs. passive Melee skill.

OR

#3 Attack vs. Passive Melee, if hit then disarmed and roll damage

Thanks folks

I'm almost positive it's either #1 or #3 but I'm not sure which one...

Looking at how the Tier 1 martial technique Disarm Foe is worded, I'm guessing that #3 was probably the original intent. An official clarification would be greatly appreciated, however.

I lean towards #1. You hit and do damage - and the damage (or the strike) also might make your foe drop his or her weapon. Definitely 1 roll (ie not #2). Not sure if the -6 penalty (see disarm from 311) would apply to the comparison vs. pass melee. The wording under Attack: "Special, see effect" is not clear to me either.

I agree with Accurier that a ruling would help.

The errata clarifies this, there is no penalty when using the technique.

Option 1 is the correct option. This is perhaps not as well worded as it should be; but the intent is that you perform a regular attack. If that attack hits avoidance, it deals the weapon damage (hence, Weapon under the effect). If the same attack also meets the test for disarming the foe, then your foe is disarmed.
