Gail Force Winds, adapted to a single target. Then adding adaptation extended range to boost the blow back greater to 110'. That raises the CTN to just a 25, Speed 4 strain 5.

If you read the falling damage rules the target suffers a -MINIMUM- of two wounds. Plus another possible d4 wounds. If that wasn't enough take 11d6 stamina damage.

Seams pretty powerful for a Tier I spell. Has then been subject to errata? Should it be?

Effect: You summon forth an intense gust of intense hurricane
force winds. Any Target you successfully affect is pushed
to the outside edge of your cone, where they must perform
an Athletics (Balance) (Qu) Action Skill Roll against your
Passive Arcanum Value or fall Prone.

As there is no cone, the target couldn't be pushed anywhere. You would still get the trip check (0' movement), so may be worthwhile for that.

I don't think that's correct Southernskies.

Gale Force Winds only pushes creatures away it doesn't deal any damage. The adaptation to change the spell from a 15' Cone to 30' (1 target) is a spell adaptation (not a Talent). So when a player changes the Range to 30' (1 target) the target has to get pushed back or then the spell literally does nothing.

Now Eric don't forget the spell does say "...suffer damage as if they fell the distance they traveled."

So if they are 20 feet away from an obstacle they only take 20 feet of falling damage. It's not easy to line up an enemy 110 feet away from an obstacle like a wall with nothing else in the way. Heck most battle don't take place in an area that large.

But perhaps it does need a max range in the next errata.

Range isn't the issue. Damage due to range is. Make the maximum falling damage equal to a 30' fall, and the problem is solved. It does no harm to the game to push somebody back 110' feet. It is the massive falling damage that breaks the system.

I raised this before. And I agree with your interpretation. But in the previous discussion this ended up being a minority view. Most of the people here believed (and presumably still believe) that you potentially take a ride for 100+ feet.

I don't get it. I understand this spell is poorly worded for that adaptation, but my guess is that if you target a single target you throw them the 15' that you could with the cone, but without having to worry about hitting any other bystanders, and without having to be right next to them - only within the range of 30'. I'm not sure how extended range makes this spell more deadly. It just allows one to target someone farther away, right? It doesn't increase the area of effect. Right?

I see what you mean.
If the range become 30' (1 target) and is therefore able to be extended with Adaptation: Extended Range, but it doesn't say how far back the target actually get pushed.

It seems players believe that if they extend the range to something high like 110' (1 target) but the target is only 10' away from the caster the target would "fall" the remainder (100') or until they hit something.

This spell adaptation definitely needs some clarification.
Possibly just the additional note that the target is still only pushed back 15' as per the spell before the adaptation.
