Hi all

Just a quick one regarding weapon training (Shields)

I have a Expert as get weapon training in two of my national weapons. One of them I have chosen is shield.

I am a little confused in how it works. Is it like flintlocks where you need to choose a specific type (ie Weapon Training Flintlock:Pistol & Weapon Training Flintlock:Rifle) or is it like crossbows when the talent covers all types.

I guess what I am trying to work out is when I take Weapon Training do I get proficiency in all nation shield or just the Buckler (one I am using)?

Cheers

Shields means all shields. Armor Training and Weapon Training are the same talent when it comes to Shields.

Really, for the next edition, Shields need to be taken out of Armour section and be treated like any other weapon (using the Weapon Training talent). Saves a huge amount of confusion...

Armor Training with shield would give you training in all shields. Costs a talent. That's not how I read the weapon selection from Expert Archetype. Saying you can take "Shield" and get all types of shields for your nationality is a lot like says you took "sword" and get WT in all national swords.

I think you pick one of your national shields. You gain prof with it (on offense and defense)

Just as an aside, Weapon Training: Flintlocks covers both pistols and rifles. They are the same weapon entry, just like bows and crossbows.

Eric is correct. As an Expert, you can choose a specific shield - you do not get all shields (or even all national shields). This was clarified a while ago (and required me redoing part of one of my characters). Similarly, Martial does not grant all shields - it only grants all national shields.

In general, if you want all shields, you have to spend a talent.

I have taken the talent (for weapon Training) as Weapon Training:Buckler anyway, so if down the track it gets changed to include all shields then bonus :)

As per Flinklocks, I have always assumed you had to take Flintlock:Pistol and Flintlock:Rifle as separate Weapon Training talents. My assumption comes from the fact that there are paths that require Weapon Training (Flintlock:Rifle). If flintlocks were bundled under one category for WT then this would not be needed to be stated.

Flintlocks are listed as one entry. I see no reason they would require different talents.
