What infernals are published that can be summoned with this spell?

It was recently drawn to my attention that we can buy spell runes, and have access to all of them in the first city. Summon lesser infernal is CTN 16, and can thus go in a fine spell rune. As far as I can tell, it is currently legal to purchase a spell rune summon lesser infernal, for 5 gp. Is this correct?

Maybe.

Don't have my books in front of me, but I don't think you can put a sustained or binding spell in a spell rune. I'd have to check. Most (but not all) summoning spells are bindings...but the CTN part of it certainly fits.

The type of spell completely depends on what you're attaching it to. Here's the breakdown:

Wand - any (non-unique) spell
Weapons - a weapon that has a range quality of (1 Target)
Armor & Shields - range: 0' or Self

One thing people should be clear on is that while a gauntlet may be part of some armors such as Adrean Plate, by itself it only counts as a weapon.

So if you're looking at the Gauntlet of Light spell (Self) for example, it would need to go on an armor or shield. Dolphin Chant on the other hand is Melee (1 Target), so it would go on a weapon.

In the case of Summon Lesser Infernals it has a range of 20'. As such it doesn't meet the requirements for placing it on a weapon, armor or shield and would need to go on a wand.

I've got a Fine Spell Rune: Strength of Fallen Foes on a sword named Judgment. Seemed very thematically correct.

With a sweep of his hat,

Paul

What has to be remembered is that to use a wand you have to be a caster. Eldrich, Elder, or Primal specifically. So that severely limits the usefulness of the spell rune. ALSO, I had a player at my table last weekend that was doing this with a spell rune legally. Problem was I simply had enemy casters unravel the thread on the tier I binding spell and POOF! no more demons for the rest of the day. This points out another weakness of using a spell rune for a summoning spell. You can't just recast the spell on the next scene.

All and all, I didn't find a spell rune summon lessor infernal to be overly powerful simply because it was so easy to unravel the thread on. Still, it provides a handy, if temporary, front line for weaker parties when facing big beefy beat sticks.

In a side note, I place a Spell Rune: Stabilise on my gladius. Its already saved one life.

OK, so it can be done, using a wand. Thanks for that clarification, I had missed that it would require a wand. But, back to the first question...

What infernals are published that can be summoned with this spell?

Also, I thought there was some indication that sarishan's often have invisible demon bodyguards, I thought because of this spell. Or is that a tier III demon, because I haven't seen any invisible ones, and most the rest seem to be an imperfect fit for this because they are a mob, or tier 1.5 (rather than tier I).

Thanks!

Keep in mind that you must buy/transfer Runes only within Modules which say you can (or if set in First City). It's not something you do between adventures or anything.
