Over the last few adventures, I've noticed an increase in the amount of 'lifestyle' costs within gameplay.
I don't object in principle, but when you're a Patrician with Expensive Tastes, dropping 50+ sc in one transaction rips a big hole in the savings for 'roleplay' (when adventure rewards can be feast/famine and do not respect your class-based costs).
While
Earning a Living and
Lifestyle costs are *not* part of the campaign paperwork (good thing), the intangible costs are rising.
PROPOSAL:Using the same rules as the Benefits of Station (ta:CoH), Earning a Living can be rolled at the start of an adventure for 'pin money'.
Quote:
Earning a Living: At the start of each adventure, you may perform an Action Skill Roll with any skill utilizing (Logic) or (Charisma), earning one half the result in silver coins to spend on lifestyle, bribes, and anything else that might increase your standard of living. These skills will
have a list of Common Professions.
This money cannot be spent on runes, magic items, or anything tangible with the exception of mundane, fashionable clothing. You may use this money to improve the lifestyle of his companions (renting a quality room for them instead of a flophouse), but may not bribe, loan, or gift these moneys to them.
Unspent money from this allowance is expended on your trade, as is any clothing purchased with the funds.
